Worth it for the neck alone.
Coming from a player series, I really enjoyed the vintage frets and radius of this bas. Just feels more comfortable. Also, this is the cheapest way to get true 70s spacing on a bass in the current fender line. And the sunburst just pulls the 70s vibe of this bass perfectly together. Didn't think this was going to be my #1 bass, but it is now my main bass.
Comfortable neck radius and 70s snarl
Great looking bass and authentic 70s sound. Well worth the upgrade over the player series.
Amazing Sound, Smooth Neck but Finicky
Truly amazing bass. I bought mine used in natural amber and got it for a great price as well and it came without a scratch. It's definitely got its own personality. I've owned nine basses including two other jazz basses, and this is the fattest in the mid section any bass has ever sounded. My old MIM Deluxe Active Jazz Bass is SO different than the Vintera. Pure growl as the American… read more Vintage Revoiced Pickups definitely do their job. Compliments on tone one guy said "Sounds like a stingray man." Probably the best way to put it. Very active sounding but passive. I have dead strings on there and still get the treble out my tone is amazing. But- You should know- It's not a deal breaker but- This bass guitar is a monster but is for mature players only. Mine has a 3 piece alder body with a gorgeous grain but is very heavy. Strains the shoulder after 4 hours playing. Another major thing- this has the 7 and a quarter radius vintage C neck, arguably the slimmest/thickest jazz neck Fender ever made. Definitely have had to adjust the trussrod more often than fatter necks. The maple is beautiful and the bass is overall on par with anything MIA. People forget Mexico is in North America. My particular example of this bass is a keeper and just translates better in the midrange due to the Pau Ferrero and the heavy alder/ash. I went with the natural to try and snag the best cuts of wood they would be putting out. The sustain is truly absurd: 30 second notes if I wanna let em ring.
Just buy it.
Had this bass for a year and I love it every time I pick it up. Amazing tone and feel. The finish is spectacular and it feels great. I wouldn't change a thing about this bass. Buy it.
Me lo encanta
Me lo encanta! I bought this bass because of the C-shaped, hecho en Mexico
Just O.K
After shopping for sometime for a 70's jazz bass I decided to purchase this bass. The bass looks great but I was disappointed in the craftsmanship of the neck. The action was too high. I had a fender tech work on it adjusting the truss rod. he said he did the best he could I still get fret rattle on the higher frets. If this is going to be your main bass keep shopping.
