If you think you want them or have stalked them like I did, trust all these great reviews and get them. I learned to trust the plug-in charging of Fishman by owning an Acoustasonic Strat for a couple years now, all good. I used my gristle tones for a parts Tele build and could not be more pleased. As many have stated and was the case for me, slight body modification was needed to read more allow proper seating of the control assembly and at age 60 the soldering stage required some magnification (readers) and a couple beers for courage to complete. The result and satisfaction level is through the roof, you won't be sorry if you do this. I won't spoil what pushing the button does for you, try it yourself and have fun.

Juicy!

These pickups are great! With a little height adjustment these are the real deal. I don't tend to play with any distortion other than the breakup of my deluxe reverb and I can say it's the best clean sound I've ever heard. The bridge position can be open and airy or fat and juicy with the boost selected. The middle position is by far my favorite. With either the boost selected read more or not you get a special tone that's unique to these pickups. I would describe it as mix between a Gretsch and that one special 50's telecaster you've always wanted. Not only can you hear how special these are when playing you can feel the sound coming from the amp.

Blown away

I can't say enough good things about this kit. Installation was pretty straightforward. Not hard for a rookie like me. I put these in my tele, I was going to go with a conventional pickup but I was worried about feedback at venues. These pups have zero feedback and they sound like butter. I'm blown away by the tone in all positions. These pups produce the SAUCE. I play mostly church read more music.

Just special pickups for any Telecaster

I must state that I love a wide variety of Telecaster pickups and especially the true vintage pickups that can give a unique sound depending on how they were wound, when they were wound and put together and what type of body they exist in (and with a certain type of wiring). However, from a recording / studio + versatility of sounds standpoint (no hum), these are impossible to beat.

Fishman Fluence Gristle Tone!

The tone of these Gristle-Tone pickup are named correctly. Oodles and Gobs of great tone! They made my Tele-Elite (which sounded good already) into a moaning Monster, and with the gain push-push button engaged it hits a sweet spot of tonal bliss few pickups can touch. Add all this to a realativly easy installation and you will not regret pulling the trigger on these! It takes around read more 2 hours taking my time and reading the instructions over until I knew what they were saying (ground to the bridge wire replaces the original bridge wire under the tele hardware going into the control cavity). The reason this is not 5 stars- the only thing I did have to do (others mentioned this too) was use my dremel-tool and route out a 1/4" wide half moon slot down the inside high-spot in the control cavity for the wires from the cable jack to the plug on the controller. This sounds complicated but it really isn't as long as you take your time. I could have done without this but I didnt want the wire harness pinched any at all and this worked out really nice. All and all I am very pleased with the installation and would recomend these to anyone with a tele that needed to improve their tone!
