Incredibly versatile pickups
These pickups are very versatile, the single coil tones are the best single type sounds I've heard from a set of humbuckers. The pickups are very very clear for a 7 string set, but don't have the sterile cleans that you get with traditional active pickups, best to think of them as 'powered' pickups rather than active. I've previously owned the Nazgul/Sentient set that Keith Merrow… read more was associated with, and these are very different beasts. These guys lack the 'wah' like midrange spike that the Nazgul had, and just have tons more character and clarity, I'm really impressed. I integrated this set with the Universal Charger to my Music Man JPX 7 with a Piezo system. Now I had to route the pickup cavity to fit, but that was more my guitar than the pickups themselves. The only gripe I have with Fishman is that the wiring diagram for the push/pull pots was a little different than what it needs to be, it showed connecting the voice wires to the bottom lugs (furthest from the pot base), and then the middle lugs to ground. In reality, the voice wires should be to the middle lugs of the push pull and the ground wires on the top lugs (closest to the shaft). That way when you pull up on the pot, the voice wires are sent to ground, telling the pickup to engage voice 2 or 3!
