Distortion

Replaced EMG 80/85 with these. Cleaner, better distortion. Flip the switch, pull up/down the knob, turn amp to 11 and enjoy!

Modern, heavy sounds

Love the clarity, especially at high gain levels. Flip Of a button (or rather pull of a knob) switches it to a lesser output passive pickup that's great for crunch and clean sounds! Thanks a lot to my rep Aric Ficek for helping me make the right pick!

Pickups are Amazing The wiring in the kit is subpar.

5 stars for the pickups! They sound absolutely amazing in both voicings. The 3 stars are because the wire supplied have plastic insulation not silicon! What this means is when you solder the ends to the pots it will melt the insulation about an 1/8" or so. The kit also doesn't include the wiring for the grounds or the input jack (not big deal just be ready to have you own wire read more for that). You are pretty much force to use the supplied wire due to the clip connections or try to solder to the clips. The wires for the neck pickup are the same length as for the bridge which is barely enough to reach. Considering these are not cheap I expected better. The pots are and jack are high quality, just junky really thin wires. Also if you want to split the pickups you just need to seperate the green/orange and blue/yellow and solder the wire on the open adjacent pin(had hard time finding that info). Again the pickups themselves are Amazing. One of the best sets I've ever heard. And zero microphonic feedback, almost zero noise. I no longer need to use a noise gate, even while using them in single coil configuration!

Hands down, one of the best pickups EVER!

I wanted some active pickups to upgrade my LTD EC-256 as it was the most "upgradable" guitar in my collection. First thing that came to mind, EMG. Did some research on the Fluence pickups and was intrigued by the technology behind them and the different voices from the pickups that you can get. I did the best internet research I could on the Modern Humbucker and there are tons read more of videos with people playing metal, and they sound awesome in those videos doing metal. I play metal on occasion and was wondering how these sound not playing metal, or even clean. Had a hard time finding that on the internet, but I took the plunge and got them. Let me tell you, metal or anything heavy, this is where it is at. But they are not only for that "modern metal" sound, even 80"s metal, rock, southern trash rock, or whatever... these pickups bring your guitar to life! They are very articulate and just lay on beautiful, thick gain. How about clean?? They sound just as good! The bridge pickup is a little gritty in the active voice, though that is expected with a high output ceramic pickup. Put it in the passive voice and it sounds like a hot-rodded humbucker! I played these on my Marshall DSL40CR and a Peavey Bandit 112. On the Marshall any sound you ever wanted under the sun could be made. This amp has been dialed in for a while and was set just the way I want it, these pickups give a great Marshall amp an even better sound, clarity, and more of that Marshall crunch/OD. For the Peavey, let"s just say this amp is used strictly for that "modern metal" sound. Plug the guitar in and boom! Just totally heavy, thick, beautiful, in your face metal gain! These pickups do deliver the metal sound, what they don"t tell you is you get every other sound you could possibly want as well. No matter what you play, these pickups will be the last pair you buy. They are so versatile, so clear, so articulate and they will drive your amp to make sounds you have never heard from it before. Also, I use no pedals, no processors or anything...... just a guitar, a cable and an amp. If you read down this far, do yourself a favor and order these pickups right now. You thought about it long enough, just add them to your cart and get them.... you won"t be disappointed! Great product, if you are familiar with the proper use of a soldering iron then installation won"t take that long. These can be coil tapped if you want and on the bridge pickup there is a supplied jumper cable so set it up for lower gain from the pickup if you want (I didn"t try it out though). That"s all I got, now buy yourself some pickups!

Started my search for some nice, shiny, chrome pickups for my charvel San Dimas. After perusing the selection at Sweetwater, I started watching YouTube reviews of each pickup. After 3 days of watching videos, I had a surprising choice first in line. People kept saying exactly what I wanted to hear about the Fishman Fluence pickups. I honestly had no idea Fishman made pickups beyond read more their acoustic offerings, but HO-LEE COW what a discovery! Wiring them up was as fun as wiring an active set of pickups can be (it's not, in case you missed the sarcasm...) But once in place, I can't begin to say enough about the tone. I'm completely blown away. The clarity when playing clean is amazing, you can do anything at all with the sound and it's still pure. But crank up the gain and these things come alive. Complex chords still shine through, notes sing for a loooooong time and there's a presence that I've never had in any of my previous pickups. And to add some very nice icing to this cake of awesome, they look fabulous. Once in place, they're just plain sexy. Don't hesitate, buy these immediately!
