My Favorite Bass

This thing is insane. I had been looking at G&L L-2000's for awhile as I wanted to add an active bass to my collection. I was considering just picking up one of their Tribute series since they have a good build reputation, but I kept coming back to this guitar because I loved the look of the blue quilted maple body. Once I was able to get it in my hands, I was blown away by the read more quality, feel, and balance of the whole guitar. The roasted maple neck is the smoothest and fastest I have ever played. The electronics are not that difficult to master, and they deliver more tonal options that I will ever need. The sound of the MFD pickups is amazing and definitely gives the guitar character. Perfect fit and finish, I am forever ruined from buying regular mass production basses! Chris Neyman my sales engineer was great as always, and responded quickly to all of my questions prior to my order, and made sure I was able to get everything I needed. Thanks Chris.

My favorite bass!

For context, I own 11 bass guitars - a mix of Fender, Spector USA, G&L, Schecter, and Ibanez. All are the top end models from each brand, and all are excellent basses. I have two G&Ls in that collection - this custom shop L-2000, and an awesome CLF Research jazz bass. Both G&Ls are the best of the bunch in terms of overall build, hands down. And that's saying a lot given the read more other basses I own. Both G&Ls have super smooth frets and necks, and are very easy (and satisfying) to play. No fret buzz whatsoever. This custom shop L-2000 is my absolute favorite of them all though. It's the perfect size and weight, nicely balanced, has an outstanding build, tons of tone options, MONSTER sound (when you want it), and a stunning finish (the maple top is even more gorgeous in the light). The special bridges used in the G&Ls help create the stellar tone these basses deliver. This bass has a roasted maple neck, and it holds its tune better than any other bass I've ever had. I can tune it, play it for an hour or two, hang it on the rack and not touch it for a few days, and when I pick it up again and go to tune it it's STILL IN TUNE. I even played it in an outdoor gig on a 95 degree day with high humidity for several hours and it never went out of tune. I had the bass plek'd by Sweetwater before it was shipped to me, and wow - totally worth it. I also had them put on my strings of choice during the process (DR Neons). All of these things make this bass effortless to play. Some basses make you feel like you're wrestling them into submission...not this one. Yeah, it's got a lot of power and can blast the windows out if you want to rock out, but you can play any type of music with this baby and enjoy the versatility it offers. It does it all. I think you get a lot for your money with G&L - this bass out performs others I have that were twice the price. It quickly became my go-to bass and is the first one I usually reach for any time I'm going to play. If you're thinking about it, don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed! And Aaron was extremely helpful during my purchasing experience (as he always is). Another reason I purchased this bass from Sweetwater vs other options.
