It really is "Grand!"

I used a lot of pedals to produce ambient music for scoring my Youtube vids. This pedal is always on the board and in the mix. The array of variation available is staggering and I recommend the Grand Canyon to anyone who is a fan oof any kind of delay.

Opens the door to new vistas

Like many of us musicians, hunkered down in our abodes during the pandemic year that was 2020, I looked to expand my musical horizons. I am primarily a classical guitarist, though not locked into tradition. I mostly play and perform Brazilian and Latin American music, and also compose and improvise a bit. Previous to 2020, despite about 50 years of playing and performing, I had read more not really experimented with guitar effects pedals, except for a few pedals designed to enhance acoustic guitar, the LR Baggs Align Series, for example, which I wrote about in an article on amplifying classical guitar, for Classical Guitar magazine... I think that while most classical and acoustic guitarists use pedals not to color their sound, but to try to produce a more natural amplified sound, there's also a lot of creative possibilities that can be unlocked or unleashed with effects pedals. They are useful for live-streaming, which I also turned to for the first time in 2020, and great for generating composition ideas and improvisations. I also play electric, and of course effects pedals and electric guitars play together very nicely. So 2020 was the year I discovered guitar effects pedals, and this particular pedal, the EHX GrandCanyon Delay and Looper, was my "gateway drug." This is a high quality pedal, with a ton of options, but overall easy to use. I appreciate that it has 12 different delay effects, providing quite a variety, although I find a few of them not very useful for my style of playing. In particular, I like the echo, the tape delay, the drum, and the shimmer. The shimmer is awesome for adding a bit of ambient wash to the sound, as I have been doing for my arrangement of Peter Gabriel's "Here Comes the Flood," on acoustic guitar. The looper is also very useful, and it's great that you can lay down a loop using one of the delay effects, and then play over it or overdub using different delay effects, or none at all. Loopers take some time and practice to get used to—-timing is difficult--but they are awesome for practicing improvisations as well as in performance (best used in moderation, IMO).I also would like to thank Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, for all his guidance in steering this pedal-newbie into the world of stompboxes. There's no going back! (I now own 7 new effects pedals, thanks to Jason and Sweetwater)I've been using the Grand Canyon and other pedals during my live-stream concert series and have posted a few links below.

I own the smaller version. My son performs live at different venues and had been asking for this pedal for a while He loves it.

This is everything you could ask for in regards to shaping your delay sound. The gorgeous shimmer effect on its own could constitute a standalone pedal, and the looper with infinite overdubs is robust enough for my needs. This has changed how I approach my songwriting, and it's been revolutionary for me. Worth every penny.
