Great Guitar

I love this guitar. It is a great choice for someone on a budget. It played great right out of the box. The candy apple red finish is excellent. Too Many Flaws to Bother Playing

As the title suggest this guitar is destined to become my prettiest dust magnet. The bridge has at least one one screw that is loose and rattles on every stroke. The nut appears improperly cut which probably accounts for the guitar going out of tune the minute I start playing, but that could also be caused by inexpensive tuners which may or may not change pitch as you twist them.… read more I was hoping for a player but looks like I got a trader. What a surprise! Top notch Hollowbody from Gretsch!

This guitar was a real surprise for me. I didn't have any unfair, lofty expectations for it, but also didn't know what to expect from the Streamliner line. There are plenty of positive reviews on the previous generation of Streamliner guitars and I loved the look of it from the start. I also love Gretsch and have had a couple in my time. I have a G5230T Electromatic Jet that is… read more absolutely awesome! My main and only gripe is a cosmetic issue under the neck joint where it meets the body near the neck pickup. The Neck curves up here with how it's constructed and underneath this tiny neck pocket, which is normal, is a small glop of something or an unfinished part of the body. Nobody can see this at all and it takes a sharp eye to even see it, as it is not visible whatsoever. Everything else is top notch on this surprising Hollowbody. I wasn't sure if I'd give it a solid 5 stars, but I did end up just loving the guitar and it sound amazing through every amp I own, which is two Marshalls (one MG combo), my Fender Supersonic 22 and a Blackstar HT Club 40. The playability and set up rivals my American guitars from Fender, Gibson and PRS even, and there are no dead spots at all. Acoustically this is an amazingly resonant and LOUD instrument and it's light weight is a Godsend. The nut is well cut and set up and there is no binding there, so the Bigsby works perfectly provided it's used as intended and not like a Floyd Rose. I have no tuning issues at all and the guitar holds tune in its case as well. The new BT-2S Broadtron pickups are wonderful. I was so surprised at how they sounded through each amp. It's much fatter than a typical Filtertron pickup but still sounds like a fat, rocking Gretsch. It can handle anything else from jazz to country as well and even heavy rock. I had no major feedback issues when cranked through an amp, surprisingly. Shredding is so darn easy on this neck! What a neck! It is so comfortable to play on. The hardware is perfectly fine and works as intended. I see no need to alter the guitar at all at this moment, and given the pricepoint it hits for a fully hollow guitar, I am so impressed with the guitar. It may take getting used to if one isn't accustomed to playing a guitar like this, but it doesn't take long to fall in love with it. I was so impressed by the tone and quality of the guitar! Take a chance on these. Gretsch really hit it out of the park with the Streamliner series and is worth a serious look if the Electromatic range is out of reach, or if you just want an incredibly versatile guitar!! Give your Sales Engineer a shout. I love Gretsch and am increasingly impressed with each guitar I get from them and Sweetwater!

Solid, but expect to make upgrades

Pros: Gorgeous finish - photos don't do it justice. Overall excellent build quality. The Bigsby and bridge are outstanding. Plays smooth right out of the box. Cons: Cheap tuners... REALLY cheap. The bridge pickup is thin. And like many imports, they went cheap on the pots and capacitor. Fantastic value

I love this guitar! It plays great, looks great, and sounds great. Construction, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are all excellent and, in my experience, better than other guitars in the same price point. The Bigsby is a nice touch, stays in tune, and works well for my needs (gentle vibrato, surf rock, etc). I didn't have any feedback problems playing with it through my Twin Reverb amp with Tube Screamer overdrive, though I kept the volume at a reasonable indoor level and didn't go too crazy with high gain distortion. This is fine for me as my goal is to use it for recording and playing for fun at home. This is my first hollowbody guitar, so I was surprised at how well it projects when playing unplugged. I actually play it mostly unplugged because of this, keeping it within arm's reach at home for anytime I feel like playing. Overall, this guitar is a screaming deal and fantastic value given the very reasonable price.
