Am pleased as I check out my G2622 Claret Burst guitar.
am thankful for the 55 point inspection process. very comfortable guitar. am playing it through a Vox 50 wt. acoustic guitar amp. no over drive. nice clean tones with chorus & reverb. will be my daily practice guitar. song writing guitar. am mostly a solo coffee house artist & this will be the guitar used on stage. Thanks Gretsch... Thanks Sweetwater. Paul... 11/12/2021
Excellent instrument for the price.
I wanted a sub-$1,000 everyday player that would let me keep my vintage ES-335 safe in her case. I had never in the past entertained the idea of buying a Gretsch, but this 2622-P90 caught my eye. Having just recently discovered the joy of P-90 pickups, after weighing my other options I settled on the Gretsch. It's my third Indonesian-made instrument and I'm pleased to say the workmanship… read more on all of them is far better than I expected for the prices I paid. The P-90 pickups sound great, and as I typically live in the center neck+bridge position I love having a master volume control that allows me to set each pickup's output individually. The tone control has a decent range, only turning to mud towards the extreme CCW position. I'm very pleased with my purchase; the good Sweetwater folks had it in my hands in short time and all my expectations were exceeded. Factory setup was good, although the action is a bit high, and the low-E bridge saddle has a sharp corner that is positioned perfectly to dig into my palm while I rest my right hand on the bridge; both will be an easy fixes when I do my first string change. The tuning heads are the same generic sealed units found on my other Indonesians (a Tele Thinline JA-90 and a G&L ASAT Tribute); they aren't bad, they're just exceptionally mediocre. A set of GraphTech Ratio tuners is on the short list for all three guitars. Otherwise, the guitar is a perfect as you're likely to find for $. I'll score this one a 4.5. Well done, Gretsch!
