Needs some tweaking- but great guitar for the price!

I own about 22 guitars, ranging from high end down to some budget lines. So my rating is based mainly on value, so if I had to compare overall, I'd maybe give this a 4.5. Out of the box, the action did not really need much tweaking for me. The stock strings are not that great. So my advice to make sure you have nut lubricant and a new set of strings on hand when you buy this. Also, read more I though the Bigbsy spring was way too stiff, so I ordered a soft spring from the Reverend Guitar website for $10, and it really made the Bigsby far more enjoyable to use. Felt broken in immediately. For tuning stability with a Bigsby- you must lubricate the saddles and nut slots. The pickups are not filtertrons, so this won't get you the Gretsch purist tone. They are more PAF voiced. But I found a cheap reversible trick if you want to brighten the pickups (thank you Gretsch forums). You remove 6 of the pole pieces on each pickup, 3 from each row. I took the 3 bass screws from the neck side, and the 3 treble from the bridge side. This mod gets you a little closer to the Gretsch tone, and brighten things up a little (with a little less output). I did this to the neck and middle, and left the bridge alone as I liked the stock better for gain. So with the pickup mod (optional), soft spring, new strings, and application of nut sauce - this thing plays like a guitar twice the price. Workmanship is outstanding at this price point.

Gretsch Goodness

The Streamliner series of Gretsch guitars is one of the best values on the market today. My G2622T came nicely packed and in a very timely manner, as all my Sweetwater purchases do. It came set up perfectly to my liking and construction rivals guitars that cost many times what this retails for. I was a little concerned about the Bigsby trem staying in tune, but it stays in tune read more amazingly well. The pickups are a little "darker" sounding than most humbuckers, but all the highs are still there too and can be EQ'd to fit any genre. Don't be hesitant to try one of these. Truly a pro quality guitar at a student/beginner price! Thanks to my sales engineer, Tyler Nigro, for another well guided order from my favorite music store.

This guitar has great tone , it's quite lite which I love , the only reason I didn't give it five stars is it has neck dive.

Love it!

Love then tones you can get from the knobs! It's a very versatile guitar, I've played metal, punk, blues, and jazz, and acoustic on it and it all sounded great!
