Fantastic Value

If you are looking for an incredibly light, easy to play, well made guitar with high fret access, look no further. It's crazy how good this is for the price, wish they made them like this when I was younger. There were a few issues but I don't think they are deal breakers depending on what you want out of it. The inlays were not parallel to the frets (but you really had to be read more focusing on them to tell), it has standard humbuckers that have a balanced middle of the road EQ and output (you won't get the "Gretsch sound" more of a LP sound), and it has some neck dive. The latter won't be an issue if you get a leather strap with one side rough and raw so it stays in place on your shoulder.

No regrets

I picked one of these up (in another color) at my local shop and was immediately impressed by the quality and the feel was just perfect. I went ahead and placed the order through Sweetwater a few days later and took delivery a couple days ago. I don't own a bunch of guitars, so I won't tell you that its better then this but not quite as good as that, I'll just say that for the read more price (and in general really) the thing plays great, looks great and I have no regrets on this purchase. Sweetwater made it easy and delivery was pretty quick. If you want some good unplugged sound with the option to plug in as well and you're on a budget this is the one.

Nice!

I've had this guitar for about a month. It came very well packed and aside from a quick tune it was ready to play. Absolutely no flaws in the finish. For those with small hands it feels and plays as well as my strat. Very comfortable. The tone unplugged is amazing, with a very rich sound and plenty loud. Sounds good thru my little practice amp as well. Couldn't be happier with this read more guitar.

Happy with purchase

This guitar is very nice indeed: good, solid, clear tone from a variety of amplifiers. Playability is excellent, It's a junior size so it fits practically anywhere to play, comfortable to hold (a tad neck heavy at first, due to the semi-hollow body, which is to be expected. I got used to the neck immediately). Very nice to look at, and it was a good fair price. Packaging was read more well thought out and it arrived safely. Then there's the customer service, which is heads and shoulders above anyone else out there. The guitar sold me on itself, but the company sold me on future purchases from Sweetwater.

Tremendous playability

I've had this guitar for about 3 months now and plays absolutely amazing wonderful sound and proportional size body. I love this guitar the only downside I Experienced was it badly needed a full set up from my local shop even though the inspection sticker was fully completed and ok'd.

Can't Put It Down

Was looking for my 2nd guitar after playing an entry level solid body electric for a few years. This guitar is everything others have commented on and more. Easy to play, sounds terrific unplugged and the gunmetal finish really pops. Putting it through an Epiphone Valve Jr and a Boss pedal when plugged in....really shines. Thanks to all who wrote reviews on Gretsch guitard as read more they really helped me with my decision. Sweetwater is a pleasure to do business with. Five stars for everything from the website, the personal thank you call (a real phone call!)from Stephen, and the bombproof shipping box.

The Sweetwater crew is amazing!

The guitar itself gets a 4 star rating. It is great for the price, but not great in itself. Compared to its pricier cousins there is a difference in hardware, pots, pickups etc. The pickups does handle high gain as claimed but in themselves are some sort of very low output humbuckers without the twang that makes Gretsch famous, so if you are lookig for that special sound this may read more not be for you. As said they handle high gain very well, but even set high they are putting out less than PAFs etc. The Sweetwater crew gets 10 out of 5 stars!!! First off Brent gave me a great deal on the guitar. Had it for a little bit and the inexpensive parts made themselves known by string buzzing and rattling by the saddles of the B and D string, which is not uncommon on cheaper ABF style bridges caused by either stripped screws or incorrectly tapped screw holes. Since it is a minor fix if there is a new bridge available I felt it being too much of a cost for Sweetwater to do a return/reship in terms of shipping charges. I emailed Brent telling him my issue. Before he even replied I had a missed call from Sweetwater. When I called back and talked to Cory (?) at the service dept he immediately offered me to exchange the guitar. I told him I felt that s too much of an ordeal for such a small fix, so he told me he would reach out to Fender to see if they had a replacement bridge. Just a few hours later I had an email stating that I am expecting a package from Sweetwater. EXCELLENT, NO HASSLE SERVICE!!!

Punches way above it's weight!!

I had seen these before of course, but they never really registered on me. Gretsch seems to have more more models than anyone else on the planet. There seems to be no end to them, so I am overwhelmed when picking one out to try out. I am also one of those guys that looks at Gretsch's and always have to see the price tag first because it seems like two nearly identical guitars can read more be hanging next to each other… But anyway, I saw one these single barrel stained beauties at my local independent dealer, and it was very interesting looking. Honestly, I never even plugged it in. I sat down for a couple of minutes and played it unplugged, and was blown away. Very loud acoustic tones, I just knew it would sing when it was plugged in. I got home and plugged it into my Peavey Delta blues, and it was heaven. Perfect smooth chunky neck, gorgeous fretboard with big block inlays and acceptable fret end work… It is SUPER light weight too. A nice sounding affordable option if you have back problems. Thankfully I don't, but still appreciate the feather like weight of it. The pickups sound great too. It does seem to lose quite a bit of treble when the volume is turned down, and the knobs are getting replaced with chrome Gretsch knobs as soon as they arrive. Sorry they lost me completely at the knobs, wow they're ugly. Other than those two acceptable faults, this is an outstanding guitar for the price.

I'm amazed!

Perfect out of the box. Fit and finish flawless. Tuned it up. Stretched the strings. Plugged into my blues Jr. and can't put it down. This is my 2nd Gretch and I have to say I love their necks. They both fit me like a glove. For reference, I love Strats, but they're a bit big for me. Paul's have been fine most of my life, but I may have to upgrade to one of the pricey models. I read more have 21 guitars. All kinds. I can't get over how much I like these! Yes, the pots are useless, but that's an easy, cheap fix. I love the pups. Maybe I'm just easy, but I've had, and sold 2 Gibson 335's.Always wanted one too. Get a Gretch!

Best All Around Guitar

I don't have enough great things to say about this guitar. The jr. feels like the perfect size and is really comfortable for me to play. The stock pickups sound great and you can play almost any style through them. The only thing I'm going to upgrade are the tuners because the stock tuners don't do such a great job. For me though that isn't such a big deal and the guitar is still read more well worth it. If you on the fence I'd say just go for it!

Exactly What I Wanted

I am loving this guitar. I was looking for something with the shorter scale and HH-setup, but without as thick neck, and a fixed bridge. I really like the Broad'tron pick-ups. As advertised, they are just a little chimier than some of the other humbuckers I've tried but still able to take advantage of some gain. A couple things to know that keep this from being a full 5 stars: read more * Some neck dive. This is easily manageable while sitting, but noticeable with a strap. I put a .5lb ankle weight on the strap for now, may try something more permanent once it's out of warranty. * Setting either volume at less then 2/3 in the middle position will kill the signal, so not as much range for the middle as I was hoping. That said, it is very well put together and this color is great.

Super versatile guitar.

I'm an 18 year old guitarist and I wanted to start off my credit by buying a new guitar and I couldn't be more happy with the purchase I made. This guitar plays amazingly and is super comfortable to play on it. This guitar is inspiring me to play even more since it's my second guitar and this one I'll pay it with my hard work and sweat. If anyone is thinking in buying it, go for read more it. It's a great investment and a super versatile guitar. By the way, Christian Good made sure my guitar arrived in time and in good shape. Thank you!

A KEEPER GUITAR

The G-2655 has beautiful clarity and balance between strings. It's a relatively bright sounding instrument with a thin neck, not as thin as some of the Ibanez shredder necks but quite comfortable. I'm a jazz student playing mostly "clean. The guitar's bright tonality can be toned down to a "smooth jazz" character while still retaining clarity, balance and beauty. The neck is read more long and a bit heavy but neck dive doesn't seem to be a problem. It retains tune well. I'm glad I bought it.
