Everything I Dreamed It Would Be

I've always wanted to own a Gretsch Hollowbody Bass, and I finally pulled the trigger on this "Gretsch Orange" model. It is so awesome, with the chrome knobs and accents. But the sound, it is strong, solid, and pure. I love playing this bass. Some online reviews warn you against buying a long scale bass, saying it is hard to play. I don't find it that way at all. I have no read more problems on that end, and since it is a Hollowbody, it doesn't weigh any more than a solid Stratocaster. The only adjustment is to the size. It is big! That is your only adjustment, but since it is so easy to play, it balances out. Very, very highly recommended!!

For the bassist who wants some attention

I love this bass. You can practice acoustically, which is primarily why I bought it. It has a very woody low end, especially when finger plucking flats close to the neck. I played it at a worship service and never had so much interest by people: "Wow - what is that!" Fit and finish were perfect. The filtertrons + hollowbody result in a unique sound that fits in a mix very well. read more The only issues are inherent to the design: (1) it is big, requiring different hand/arm positioning, and (2) slight neck dive. Nolan at Sweetwater provided exceptional service as always.

I collect bass guitars and this bass instantly became a favorite. It's comfortable to sit and play or stand. The action is wonderful and I love the tone. I was not disappointed.

Great Bass

No regrets at all buying this bass, even though it was a bit out of my price range. Two years on now and I still like everything about it. The only problem ever (so far) was a scratchy pickup selector toggle -but that was a two minute fix with some electric cleaner spray. The workmanship is spot on and the tone is very versatile.
