Lately I've been wanting something that's not typically Fender or Gibson sounding. I started looking into Gretsch and fell in love with the Jet. The fit and finish is dead perfect. The guitar is also lighter than you'd expect, in a good way. It's very resonant in the way a semi-hollow body would be because of the chambering. Also I'd never cared much about Bigsbys but it's… read more totally fine for some light vibrato. The arm has a bit of play in it, but I just need to tighten up the screw on it next time I change strings. Also, the guitar plays great out of the box, though I'll get a set-up eventually. I think before touching one of these, I always thought of them as delicate and more specifically for country. The Jet is much more versatile than that though. You can definitely use this for jazz and blues and even some rock sounds. The Dynasonic pickups really aren't really for a lot of gain, but that's not what this guitar is for. Check out Julian Lage's latest album 'Love Hurts' for a good approximation of how you could use this guitar. He recorded the album with a Duo Jet, but I find I can get most all of the tones he does on that album with my Jet. Finally, this thing is just a looker. All the chrome and detail is gorgeous and really stands out in person. Zero regrets on this one. One of the coolest and most fun guitars I've bought.
