Tone
I had been thinking about a Gretsch for a while, and ended up with this one on a whim. I always experience buyer's remorse when I spend a decent chunk on a new guitar, but it was over almost as soon as I got this out of the case. It is a beautiful guitar. And when I plugged it in? The tone is FANTASTIC. I've been switching between an AC30 with a 2x12 cab, an Orange Terror and a… read more Mesa Badlander (both driving an Orange 2x12 and an Orange 4x12). The all Orange set-up gets the most growl, and incredible harmonic overtones, but all three set-ups sound extremely good. I like the feel of the guitar, but something about the neck feels a little slow. Not sure if it is the finish, the neck shape (which is fairly chunky), or the combination. That said, when I walk into my music room, I keep picking up the Gretsch. No regrets. A great guitar, and tones that I just can't replicate with anything else.
Disappointed
As an old guy at 78, I grew up with my 62 Strat but became attracted to the shorter scale Gretsch. Never needed the large Falcon but this smaller one got my attention. As one who owns numerous Japan made guitars such as the T-Rose, Eddie Cochran, etc. this guitar should never had left Japan. It had to have the frets smoothed at edges by Luther. Not Japan quality. A couple of other… read more minor flaws not worth going into. I can see it appears I am in the minority here. So will chalk it up to 'got a lemon.'. Gotta blame myself too cause I should have checked it better out of box. But now it plays well so will keep it. It's a looker, but would not be my 'go to' if I was still stage playing.
Top of the line Gretsch Tone!
Never played a Gretsch so solid and smooth. Super clean notes and sparkle tone in the middle position. I okay in the Worship scene And definitely nails those worship tones! I like the thin body shape on this one . I'm 5'4 and the guitar doesn't look like I'm holding an acoustic. Highly recommend this guitar you won't be disappointed. The set up wasn't the best but luckily new strings… read more fix the string buzz . I Highly recommend paying for the set up before it ships .
Gretsch G6636T Players Edition Falcon Center Block-White, Bigsby Tailpiece
I'll be 73 in March of 2020 and I've enjoyed a long pleasant journey with Gretsch guitars. From back in my college day's, I've owned three Chet Atkins Country Gentlemen and the White Falcon is my fourth purchase. One I traded in on another Gretsch & the other two I gifted to my Son's. My last and final purchase of the White Falcon goes to one of my grandsons when I conclude my… read more pilgrimage on earth. When the guitar arrived, I felt like a kid at Christmas time. It's stunningly beautiful, elegantly designed, and fingerboard and action are the best. My thanks to the kind folks at Sweetwater and Gretsch for the dream guitar of a lifetime. Kindest regards, Mike Simpson Henderson, Tx
