Great Gretsch!

Fantastic guitar…a real stand-out! Greg Savino at Sweetwater really came through for me again on this guitar! Superb build quality and great value! The body is smaller than a usual Gretsch, a little larger than a Les Paul body, which makes the guitar very comfortable and manageable to play. The neck is extremely comfortable. The pickups sound very reminiscent of P90s…nice read more clarity and chime but still very full, and dirty-up very nicely. The electronics are also an upgrade (treble bleed, no-load tone control) and the master volume is very usable. Great Gretsch!

Great Guitar!

I love this guitar! Fit & finish are beyond compare, the sound is wonderful. It puts my Les Paul Classic & my Jeff Beck Stratocaster to shame. Playing all three through a Fender HRD IV & a Vox AC15HW1X.

Background: I had a Black Penguin, White Penguin, and have messed around with the Cadillac Green Duo Jet. There was always a great tone out of them, but sometimes I'd still go out and swap pickups because I wasn't satisfied by the tone. The wiring on my Penguin was also set a bit differently to where you'd get the tone drop (one of the vintage wirings). Enter the Broadkaster Jr: read more A Gretsch for the modern player. It's a quality guitar, hands down. The sustain is amazing, the feel of the guitar is so nice and the neck is fast. The look is also spot on. This is a good looking guitar, the wood look on the sides, back, and headstock add some real class to the guitar. I'm a tele guy most of the time, but this guitar keeps me coming back and is just a dream to play on! Speaking of, I love to play around with my 7ths and 9ths and on some guitars the notes can get a little hard to tell apart. I've been interested in the Full'Tron pickups and seeing how they react to those types of chords - I have to say, the pickups adds such clarity to each note that it just makes me smile. Toss on distortion and it's ready to growl too! My usual go-to pickups are a P90 neck/Humbucker bridge combo for versatility, but this guitar doesn't need any mods like that. It's good to go as is and can handle a wide range of styles. It's a bit pricey, but definitely one of the best offerings that Gretsch has. I look forward to seeing what else the company comes out with.
