These are the most secure and sturdy way to hang your musical instrument that has a neck, on any wall that you might have. I mount them on a 1 X 8 board that is cut out to any length or shape that I want. Then I paint or stain the board, depending on if it is pine or deciduous. I always round over what ever edges I want to, with a radius bit in my router, different radius cutters read more for what ever radius looks best, for different woods or shapes. I also put Minwax tree wax on the back of the board before I fasten it to the wall ( usually a drywall and stud wall ) with drywall screws. The wax prevents you from destroying the wall when you take the hanger board down, when you want to relocate your musical instrument. Or anything else that you might want to hang up on a wall that you want to grab when you are in a hurry.

I ordered these, because I wanted a flexible yet sturdy wall hanger that can hold any guitar or bass that I hang on it. An all metal construction is much more rigid than wood/ metal IMHO.They come with a spacer/ reducer to hang narrower necks instruments and they can fit a full size 2" classical guitar as well (without the spacer). These are good investment to securely hang guitars read more on the wall, but they can be as good as the way you fix them on the wall.

Great Hangers

Still working on our studio. With a little thought into the mounting these hangers are great. I do not care for the open face hangers without securement. These are as automatic as it gets, when you have a firm hold on your instrument and lift up the locks automatically flip up and open, doesn't get any better. The rack on the left was my first one, it has my lower end items on it read more except for the old Monterey. The Monterey was Dads old guitar he played for years, the story goes he bought it used around 1949-50. Near as we can figure without any documents it is around a 1947 and cannot be valued in my opinion as it is not for sale at any price. The rack on the right has around $7000 hanging on it, including a custom built Tele by EER Custom guitars out on the west coast, that one is irreplaceable as it is the only one in the world, not for sale. Anyway these have been up a couple years now with absolutely no issues. I mounted them to some nice pieces of pine wood with some small carriage bolts and nuts and then some torx wood screws to the studs in the wall. All that work could be done with a jig saw and cordless drill unless you want the router edges. Make it a project with a wood worker buddy, do one for each of ya. I weigh in at 225 and hung off two of them to test them out , no problems. If you are smart enough to play guitar you are smart enough to realize that maybe they can be mounted more securely for peace of mind. As I respect the lower posters right of opinion he can respect mine , maybe we can come over and guide ya along in mounting these up, and if ya want we can play your guitar for ya too......

Works awesome - Two years hanging

The reviewer complaining about the included anchors: really, you don't have any other fasteners handy to mount these on the wall? These are excellent and work great! I have hung a 5-string G&L Kiloton on mine for about two-years and another bass on the other one. I mounted them to an old plaster wall; so, I had to adapt the fastener part of it; I put a big screw in the center read more one, and the used two of the type that are typically used for drywall. I had to do some pre-drilling, so yes, it is a sort of project, but definitely doable and they are rock solid and work perfectly!

Wall Anchors Are Inadequate

I ordered three of these hangers so my guitars would be easy to grab and play when I had a few minutes and some inspiration. I was scared to death that I would bump one off the wall walking by it, so I bought these expensive Hercules hangers with the lock-in mechanism instead of cheaper, simpler hangers. I think you could argue that the construction of the hangers is a little over read more the top; they are bulky and clumsy looking. But they work as advertised, and I am confident that I'll never accidentally knock a guitar off the hanger. Unfortunately, the hangers come with absurd little plastic inserts and screws for wall mounting, and the instructions note that these are designed for installation in masonry or concrete. Now look. I know these hangers are made in China, and I know China uses a lot more concrete and masonry in construction than we do. But I seriously doubt that most of these are SOLD and USED in China. In the US, 90% of the walls are sheetrock over studs. The only RATIONAL mount to sell in the US would be a very heavy sheetrock anchor, like a molly bolt. It's pretty unusual for me to bother to complain about a purchase after I've solved the problem (I used my own molly bolts for sheetrock mounting) but I think anyone buying these should be aware. And please don't ignore the two inch piece of paper in the package reminding you that the anchors included are for use in masonry walls. Use those pathetic little anchors on sheetrock at your own peril.
