Beautiful Guitar

I did a lot of research to find this Guitar. There is nothing like it in this price range. Solid wood, fully glossed, beautiful binding, and inlay. Great tone and set up. Paul at Sweetwater was very good to me. I highly recommend this guitar. Keep on playing my friends.

Warm, Crisp, and Punchy

I got this guitar because I needed a new acoustic. My other was signed and the sharpie was starting to wear with play so it is more or less out of commission. Boy was this an upgrade! I've been wanting a dreadnaught body and this Guild guitar seemed perfect. It sounds amazing with a very full and vibrant sound. It came with probably the best soft case I've seen (it even has a piece read more that cradles and secures the neck. This guitar also has a forward mounted X-bracing pattern which was exactly what I was looking for. I love that warmth with the soundboard the forward mounted x-brace achieves due to it allowing a large area of the soundboard to vibrate. Great midrange guitar for intermediate players.

Guild makes great guitars

First things first. Thank you Jim Swain for the best customer support around! You are a man of your word, and when the unexpected happens, you always make things right. Now, for this guitar. Do not fear buying this guitar, it is another fine instrument from Guild. I had the folks at Sweetwater Plek and setup this guitar, and the result is astounding. The action is low and sweet read more with zero fret buzz. You deserve this, and the bonus buck deal means it is a great time to pull the trigger.

I love this Guitar

Great guitar, perfect intonation up and down the neck. Great tone with a punchy midrange. My objective in buying this guitar was to replace a Martin D16h which I'd fallen out of love with with a "good enough" guitar. While the construction is similar to my Martin on paper (solid mahogany back & sides, Sitka top, scalloped x-bracing, dove-tail neck joint), the D140 far exceeded my read more expectations in sound, playability, and build quality. I'd describe the neck as a chunky C shape, which suits me well. I could see the action being too low for some people, but there is no fret buzz and it makes playing it pretty easy compared to many other acoustics I've played.

I bought this as an upgrade from a Yamaha fg800, I was looking for all solid tone woods and this guild fit the bill at what I'd consider a very competitive price. I played similarly priced and more expensive martins and taylors and to my ears this guitar sounded much better than all of the ones I tried. The action from the factory was very high but a quick setup had it playing read more perfectly.

Outstanding dreadnaught, hard to beat value

I've had a Guild D-140 for almost a month now and I have a hard time putting it down. Excellent balance up and down the fret board, plenty of projection but not bright or brash. Just a full, punchy, resonant all-solid dreadnaught sound for a great price. The tone is already warming up nicely after only a month and becoming even more versatile.

Difficult to believe....

I already have (OM-size) "off-shore" Guild, and have been really pleased with it. Needed a new dread , so starting looking for a Guild. I played and American-made (Oxnard) D-40, and a D-140 (made at Guilds factory in China). Was there a difference? Yes. Was it $3000 worth of difference. No way. This D-140 is everything I could ask for from a solid wood dreadnaught: Loud, yet crisp, read more with a sustain that is just amazing. Fit and finish seems perfect, and the "hard bag" is really nice. If you're looking for ALL a solid wood Spruce/Mahogany dread, for well under $1000, I highly recommend you take a close look at the D-140.

Why is this not very popular?

This Guild D-140 should be very popular! It sounds and looks like a $3,000 guitar. For $... this guitar is big bargain. I can't believe I didn't know about this good thing a watch a lot of videos on YouTube and read a lot of reviews that's how I discovered this guitar. It has solid bass and sweet treble and volume. And so beautiful. The finish is perfect on antique sunburst. The read more only thing I didn't like are the strings that came with it. I replaced it with Elixir 12-53 phosphor bronze and I put LR Baggs Anthem Tru Mic and it sounded like a huge guitar like a D-55. Now I'm thinking about getting a D-40 with a natural finish.

Great Guitar!

Was looking for a full sized Dreadnought and this one caught my eye. After letting it adjust to the local climate for a few days, the D-140 plays wonderfully. The set up was on point! I expected the guitar to be heavier, as as my solid D'Angelico Bowery is a tank, but it is light. I dig the tones, hooked it up to a Seymour Duncan Woody and it sounds great amplified. The bass read more in this guitar is so good. Great mid-range price guitar. Side note, the guitar came with a small clip on mic that is not mentioned anywhere on SW's or Guild's website.
