Sweet Experience

Kimo

Just getting back into playing guitar after 40 years of playing the piano. Back then I owned a Guild Starfire lV and I loved that guitar. When I saw Guild had a new Starfire I had to have one. I wanted to buy my guitar from a local guitar (center) but found out that they wanted my money yet never had a Starfire on order like they had told me. That's when I remembered reading about read more Sweetwater. Reluctantly I ordered the guitar with fears of receiving my banged up Guild but what I received was an extremely well packed guitar in perfect condition. I was extremely happy with the whole process, the customer service, and the shipping. I love the Guild Starfire l SC in Vintage Walnut. It sounds great and it brings back a lot of great memories. I'm looking forward to purchasing my next guitar, a Fender Stratocaster right after I finish this review. I never thought I'd own anything but a Guild but the experience with Sweetwater may have me on my way to owning a small guitar collection.

Great Guitar for the Money

I recently purchased a Guild Starfire I Semi-Hollow body electric guitar, and wow – I love it! Gorgeous looking walnut color with a wide body. Almost too wide! I had trouble finding a case, but managed to get one. Plays smoothly, low action, and I particularly like the resonance from the body of the guitar. If you are looking a Blues or twangy sound, then this guitar is great! read more I like lingering on those flat fifths on blue scales, and using a little sustain for a cool sound. I am not really a "shredder" or particularly fast player, so it accomplishes the purpose of having a solid sound for fewer notes. I imagine this guitar would be nice for a country sound too – maybe even fit the aesthetic based on its look too!Though this is not a big surprise to those familiar with semi-hollow bodies, but it can't do too much gain or it causes feedback, but despite that, does a nice "crunch" sound that it handles quite well. Overall, super happy with my purchase as an amateur player, and glad to be able to use it to jam!

This guitar sounds amazing. Right out of the box, it just needed a quick tuning and it was ready to go. Action is comfortable. LOTS of tonal options with the push/pull volume pots to allow for humbucker and single coil tones. I've looked it over from top to bottom, and the finish is consistent all over. Top notch guitar at a great price!
