High E string broke with initial tuning; disappointed.

I was excited to see this set because it's rare to see .009 available on 7-string sets in general. To top it all off, .064 for the 7th string! Unfortunately, my first impression of this set was ruined because the high E string broke off at the ball-end while tuning up my guitar. Luckily, I had a spare set of Rotosound Yellows lying around to amend the situation, but regardless... read more The reason I got turned off from DRs were for the same issue; the high E string breaking from the get-go (although their high E's broke either at the tuning pegs or somewhere along the fingerboard). Ernie Ball and D'addario hasn't failed me in this regard, and I suppose I'll have to make do with returning to them for the time being. They don't offer the gauges I want for my 7-string guitar in their sets, but at least I don't have to scramble for replacement strings when installing them.

I bought a couple of sets of these a while back to try because I liked the gauges. Right out of the pack they held tuning real well, sounded great, and felt good. After about 2 weeks, they just sounded dead. I normally use Dunlop strings for my 6 strings, and I usually get 6-8 months out of them. I was really shocked that these didn't last but about 2 weeks. I would say these are read more good for the gigging guitarist that changes strings more than once a week, but for a hobbyist like myself, they just didn't last.
