Tarnished after one gig!
I typically buy new types of strings on a whim - perhaps they're new, or maybe on sale. For these LaBella strings, it was the latter. Figured the price was cheap enough to give them a try. I was fairly disappointed in these. They didn't stay in tune well, and sounded dead quite quickly. La Bella string sets were more difficult to find in the past--only at a select few outlets. I'm glad they're being stocked at Sweetwater. I actually prefer the Super Alloy to the the HRS, but the price is right. The feel and sound is close enough to what I like--bright, even and articulate with a decent lifespan. I'm a big fan of balanced string sets, and most sets of 0.011's… read more feel more even to me across the neck than lighter or heavier sets. I've actually researched the tensions and put together my ideal set set with 0.0105 and a low 0.052, but it's not as practical as buying a complete set. Purchasing individual strings to make sets is more expensive, they're not sealed, harder to keep a running stock. The La Bella HRS strings are a good alternative to Ernie Ball or D'Addario. Four stars as I find I can break them fresh out of the package just as easily as any other string.
