This was a gift for my boyfriend's birthday. He is an avid player and always wanted an Artcore. He didn't know they made a bass in the series let alone a hollow body. The sound/tone is amazing. It's an overall beautiful bass.

The bass came in and my kid opened it and played it before giving it to me (it is mine not his). Only gripe I have is how Ibenez placed protective thim foam on places on the actual bass that has made it difficult to remove without potentially scratching the surface. Bass is a secondary instrument for me. Had a cheap acoustic bass that I enjoyed plucking on but wanted something better. Did a lot of research and knew I wanted a short scale.Decided on this.The cost of a Gretsch could'nt be justified and did'nt care for the red finish of their offerings. Ordered this with setup and flatwounds. Was not sure about short scale flats because of the… read more trapeze tailpiece. No real fault of sweetwater techs but the set up was not to my tastes. They asked all the right questions but as a secondary instrument I did'nt have answers. Raised the action and lowered the pickups a bit. Also put a little piece of foam between the pickguard and pickup ring as there was an audible vibration. Definitely a keeper. Thanks again Brandt Miller.

I had originally put a different acoustic bass on order until I saw this one. I decided to give it a try in the demo room and fell in love with it. I am mediately put flat wound strings on it and I love the sound. It's full and rich and sounds quite a bit differently than my Ibanez Cerro. That was what I was looking for. It's lightweight and plays easily.

I've been eyeing up a used AFB for quite awhile. I really wanted a good hollow body for that bluegrass thump. I ended up going with new. This bass has bottom for days! I was impressed by the build quality, at this price point. Binding is smooth and the finish is great. It's also 3 pounds lighter than my Stingray. I practiced with it last night and the band was blown away… read more by the tone, through my Bassman amp and Rumble 410. I can't wait to hear it through both 410s! This bass deserves a hard case and... here at Sweetwater, you'll get one that fits like a glove. Very pleased and very pleased (as always) with the Sweetwater experience.
