I have had this thing for about 3 months. Very nice set up from right out of the box. Thank you, Randy-from-sweetwater. Sweetwater gives you the weight of the actual instrument you will receive, which is a BIG perk for me and sends you photos while you are waiting for it in the mail. packing is superb. This thing is light. Beautiful and fast neck, had 1 tiny ding-like flaw, read more some sappy bubble in the wood, but not enough to make me want to return it. the intonation was a tinge off, but other than that, totally playable. I must comment that I had to put the bridge intonation at the max/extreme of its excursion to get the intonation right, but it works, and I love this thing too much to return it. The Big Single pickups kick some serious butt. Open, big, growly. Yes, it has single coil hum with certain balance points between the pickups, which comes with the territory. I run it bypassing the preamp, where the treble knob is a tone knob. It sounds better, clearer, less compressed this way. Occasionally I will engage the preamp, when running through a sub-optimal rig or challenging environment, so it is nice to have. the finish on the poplar burl is meh, but still nice looking overall. the gig bag sucks. In summary, Light as hell, a joy to play, versatile, nice hardware, decent looking, and really KILLER tone. I love this thing. About me: I've played bass for about 20 yrs. semi pro. Currently own 6 other bass guitars (German warwicks, G&L, Ibanez Lawsuit P bass from the 80s, upright bass). This is the bass I play the most.
