But I have a few bass guitars. I write and record various music styles in a home studio and having this quality bass added to the lineup has made a huge impact. Things I love about this bass:- Fun to play! The action feels smooth and easy.- Intonation spot on upon shipment.- Tons of sustain.- Lots of flexibility with tone control.- Inverted 1/4" output jack.I've been using this… read more as my go to bass for a few months now and it's been a pleasure to record and jam with. Other players that have used it in my studio have remarked how easy it is to play with great tone options.Things I wish were a little better (but realize it's an inexpensive bass)- Tuners feel a little "weak". This bass holds its tune very well, but a little work needed to dial it in.- Paint/finish a little "unfinished" around sharp corners (the output jack and neat the nut have a slightly unfinished paint job)... purely aesthetic.- I could personally go without the active electronics (I keep the onboard EQ flat). Keep a couple of 9v batteries on hand.Overall: This is a great bass guitar. I have enjoyed playing it, it sounds amazing, and it's built solid. This is a step up from the other basses in my collection, a short-scale Ibanez Mikro and an old used "no-name" bass.

I've been playing almost 50 years, 5 String basses for the past 20-25 years. I'm not gigging anymore and decided to switch back to a 4 string as I got older and was looking for a more comfortable bass. I ordered this Ibanez SR based strictly on a long ago memory that they had a neck that felt great. Fortunately that memory was correct. I am not a bass player, and wanted a four string to learn on. But I have to say, this bass looks and feels great, is setup perfectly and has great tone. The active tone controls and modes are easy to learn and use. I have recorded using the direct in on my Apollo, and was able to get the exact sound I was looking for. Lastly, the price is hard to beat!
