A little Hot Rod

I have a collection of 3 Fenders, a MIM Player Series P Bass, an American Professional P Bass, a CB-60 Acoustic and a Sire Marcus Miller V9 5 string active Jazz style bass and they have all served me well. I wanted something different and I found the Ibanez SR4000EQM in Dragon Eye Burst here on Sweetwaters web site. After reading about it I liked the features and the price as well. read more I know a few guys that have Ibanes Guitars and love them so I purchased it. Compared to a P Bass the body is smaller and the neck is longer as it's 2 octaves. At first it felt like a toy in my hands but I quickly fell in love with the neck. I'm not blessed with those long guitarist fingers so I have to move around a fret board more than most. The neck is skinny and fast, even my tiny pinky finger could reach the 4th string with ease. I love the tones I can get from punchy bass like my P Bass to a rich warm tone. The finish and overall quality of the Bass meets or exceedes Basses I've looked at that cost twice as much and I like the fact that it weighs a pound and a half or more less than all my other Basses. I love my Fender P Basses but I can guarantee this wont be the only Ibanez in my collection. Great job Ibanez you made me a big fan.

Very versatile

My buddy ordered this for me as a surprise birthday present, after mentioning I wanted to get an SR500. First things first is not only does the neck look beautiful with the five peice Rosewood/maple but also play perfectly. It has spoiled me. I was at first worried about the overall thinness of the bass and thought it would have a shallow tone. But to my wonderful surprise it produces read more a wonderful full warm tone. In fact I appreciate the thinness of the instrument as it helps with sholder aches and pains of prolonged jam sessions as it incredibly light for a bass it's size. Not only light but also very well balanced, and not too neck or body heavy. Now on to the Dual coiled humbuckers. With the EQ compleatly flat, or not diled at all they do sound lackluster. However when you tweek the EQ around it comea alive, and that's where this bass really shines in my personal opinion, the versatility of it and the ability to be able to switch to dual or single coils with the flick of a switch is great for when I want to change music styles with out haveing to change basses.

I must say, I am so becoming a Ibanez fan. I purchased a SZ720FM 6 string 7-8-9 Years ago and fell in love. It is my go to over my 335,Tele and Strat. I recently purchased this new bass. Bass is my main instrument when playing in a band. This thing is incredible. Just Incredible! I think I just converted to Ibanez. My bandmate Matt also has a $150 Ibanez accoustic that is one of read more the finest instrument I've ever played.

Amazing tone control

I recently purchased this SR400EQM as an upgrade to my "beginner" bass. I was considering an SR300 but chose to spend a little more on this one due to the maple top which I feel gives it better tonal qualities, a beefier bridge, and of course the dragon eye finish, which is beautiful. No need to talk about the neck. That's why we buy an Ibanez to begin with - right? It's thin, it's read more fast, it has 24 frets. What really impressed me is the tone control. My other bass is a passive PJ setup. It seems like a dinosaur compared to this one. The power tap lets you switch the pickups from single to double coil. Combine that with the 3 band active EQ and you can dial in just about any tone you can think of. Plenty of punch too. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it.This is a great bass. Hard to beat for the money. Also, kudos to Sweetwater. Great personalized service and competitive prices.

Had to dial in the EQ, but after that it was great.
