Best of the best
This is my favorite pick up by far. It's a 'strong' pick up. It really responds well to anything you put through it. It has a nice Strat growl but without the muddy bottom. As a matter of fact, it's never muddy. It has clear tonality and a broad dynamics. Mine is in a HSS Strat in the neck position. Middle pick up is bypassed so it's paired with my Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell humbucker… read more pick up. Ala Richie Blackmore. There is no gamble with this purchase. You will love it. Period.
Superb and underrated
I prefer this neck pick up over humbucking neck pick ups. Stacked humbucker is the way to go and can almost do it all. The dynamics and sound is very organic and it has an edge to it that compliments the articulation. Amazing for clear and clean-shredding. Just as excellent at blues and clean tones. An exceptional pick up.
Transformed my MIM Strat
These transformed my MIM Strat and are easily one of the top 5 best purchases I've made over the last 15 years. I have a loaded pick guard with Paul Gilbert's choice of pickups, which are DiMarzio DP422 (neck), DP419 (middle), and DP423 (bridge.) I tried these on a recommendation from another guitarist after I returned a set of Seymour Duncans (JBJR, L59, and JBJR.) MY GOODNESS,… read more THE TONE IS HUGE! My Strat just barks like crazy and still has the in-between quack that tonally (and totally) sets a Strat apart from other guitars. Clean and overdriven tones are a balanced blend of sweetness, warmth, and chime. If I kick on my Tubescreamer it is sonic bliss. My Strat sounds fantastic through both my amp heads (Blackstar HT20 and Friedman Runt 20) and speaker cabs (open back 1x12 w/Eminence Private Jack and closed back 1x12 Celestion Vintage 30.) They're quiet too, no 60hz hum, and give off awesome harmonics. Give these a shot. If I ever bought a Strat that just didn't cut it in the pickup department I'd upgrade to these in a heart beat. Highly recommended!
