Surprisingly good for the price point

This bass is surprisingly well built, especially considering the price point. It has a great neck, smooth frets, decent pickups and the pots that are better than guitars I have owned that cost twice as much. My only two complaints are that the active/passive switch and the split coil switch are opposite of what I would expect, and the strap nuts are huge and don't fit standard locking read more straps,

Already my new favorite bass

Only just got it, but I already love it. Genuinely don't understand why this bass is so cheap. Out of all the basses I've had, this by far sounds the best and feels the best.

This is my first bass guitar. I have been very happy with the sound and quality of this instrument. Setup by Sweetwater and ready to play right out of the box (after a quick tune up). Thanks Sweetwater!

Unbelievable value

I play electric guitar mostly, been wanting a bass again for a long time. I settled on the JS3 after watching a ton of reviews to determine what the best bass in the 3-500 range. this thing is STELLAR!I love that you can play in passive mode when the battery runs out. the action is great, its got great tone shaping. just overall I really like the thing. maybe the only complaint read more is i can't find a good adjustment with my strap to make it feel more balanced, but thats not much of an issue. I'm not playing on a stage, just picking up the bass when i feel like playing something different.I'm playing through a 10 year old peavey bass combo w/12 inch speaker, so nothing fancy there. but it really does sound great.i'm confident that a bass player would be pretty happy with this thing!

Classy company

I love how Sweetwater really takes care of the customer! The Jackson bass I bought came in a few days and as always had the added bonus of a small bag of Candy, which my kids loved! They are alway professional and helpful! I will come back time and time again because of this!

First off looks are great, the hardware matches the paint to the T. Playability is sweet as recieved, balance was just as it should be stays where it needs to be on a strap . Soumd is really easy to dial in anything that you want to play. So glad i bought it!

Beginner Bass Player

I tried the guitar for a few years and waited to get the money up to try a quality bass from Sweetwater instead knowing about their 55 point inspection. This was not my first choice for a bass but on the advice of Steven at Sweetwater I went ahead and ordered this bass. I was able to choose one of two serial numbers and chose one with a darker fretboard. Order was shipped and received read more in perfect condition within 3 days, over the weekend, with a 55 point inspection. Biggest benefit aside from all of that was FedEx requiring me to sign for the guitars I purchased. Steven was very helpful from beginning to end on purchasing and providing a follow up call when I had received the bass. He helped me choose a Fender amp and was respectful of my price range the entire time. The bass is a beautiful red with solid feeling knobs, clean on arrival, with white binding and great tuners. Action was set just right and finally able to experience *playing right out the box*. I did not receive a manual but I did get Allen wrenches and a free cable for the amp that matched the finish on the bass. This bass is reasonably priced for the beginner range with functions that I'll be able to grow to learn and use with time so I can't comment on the pickups, strings, or general sound. Steven was even able to suggest learning resources for me and my seven year old son that got us started immediately and craving to play daily. No particular negatives as the bass isn't heavy and I'm learning but I can't complain.

A nice workhorse

Rich mids and a sneaky low end growl that's all around pleasing. Still squeezing out all the many tonal capabilities but definitely feels quality.
