Built like a tank.
I have already written a 5 star review for this amp, but I have to share this experience. I had finished playing a big band gig and had packed up. I have a padded amp cover. The path to my car included 7 steps down to street level. I lost control of my hand truck and my Jazz Suprema 15 literally tumbled down the 7 stairs with me right after it. I was not hurt but I didn't know… read more about my amp. I loaded the car and drove home thinking about where to find a qualified repair person. At home, I checked out the amp. Tubes were tight, reverb pan and speaker magnet were all intact. I plugged it in expecting no sound or maybe smoke. THE RIVERA WAS FINE. A couple of scuffs on the vinyl, but it was making music. This is a testament to the excellence of the Rivera Amp Company. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME BOYS AND GIRLS.
Jazz Suprema 15
Great amp. It took me a while to find the tone quality that pleased my ears, but when I finally settled...it was a revelation. The difference between this Rivera and my other jazz amps is so marked that I find it hard to believe. (I have three other amps built especially for archtop guitars.) At first I was leary about a 15 inch speaker and how it would behave with my 17 inch… read more handmade carved archtop. The amp ran away (feedback) almost immediately, but then I began tweaking the push/pulls, tone controls and the notch filter settings and it shaped right up. A few minor adjustments and...BINGO! Rivera has also managed to build a jazz amp with a giant speaker, (most other jazz amps have smaller speakers, 8, 10 inch) that can sparkle and define individual notes. Chords are clean and crisp and the bass, as one would not expect with a 15, is easily balanced with the mids and highs. This is an expensive amp, but I hate compromise with my tone quality. Now? No compromise. I can be a rhythm section player or a soloist with the same amp. Well worth the investment.
Best amp ever
I use this amp with a Campellone Standard 16 with a floating Kent Armstrong pickup. This amp sounds amazing and is light enough for the gigging jazz guitarist. Tons of headroom and sweet overtones. The tonal options are unlimited and with that sweet tube tone oh my! It is an inspiring and musical amp.
Jazz Beauty
This thing has so much head room I don't think you could blow it out if you wanted too. It's a jazz players dream. Warm creamy tones that only a nice tube amp could ever produce. Make you sound so much better regardless of how bad you are!! :-)
