MEH..
These are just O.K. for me. Yet another company trying to get a higher price for a pickups using Jimi's name. I find the sound harsh and not well balanced. Very harsh mids, shrill highs and too noisy. It would be hard to imagine Jimi using these. I swapped these out for Fender Gen 4 Noiseless pickups and have not looked back other than not being happy about the money I spent for… read more over hyped so so pickups. Not a fan.. The Gen 4's are night and day better!
Duncan Jimi Hendrix pickups
I put a set in my Monterrey stratocaster to make it a "pure" Hendrix machine. I'm very disappointed with these pickups - particularly the middle and neck positions. They are exceptionally mid-range in nature - without the bell-like tones and bite I expect from these guitars. I have five strats so have done a lot of comparing. Same settings for all ...there is just no doubt these… read more two pickups just don't have it. I will say the bridge pickup is very nice however. Lots of money for these and they just don't cut it. Perhaps that's the way they're designed but I wish I hadn't made the expenditure.
Wow
Wonderful sounds
Pickup junkie kicks the habit...
I admit, I'm a seeker when it comes to tone via pickups. I've spent some time & money on it, with mixed results. These pickups are definite keepers. I've been tweaking the height for weeks now, and have finally ( I think) hit on *the* sound. Very hot, crisp, fat, pop-y. I'm not looking to sound like Hendrix, but these can do it, if you've got the chops, and that's your aim.
Oh so cool
I ordered these on the 19th, got them on the 21st (nice going, Sweetwater!), and finished installing them a couple of hours ago. Been playing since, and I couldn't be happier with them! They have an obvious Hendrix-y sound to them. Hot and crisp, lots of pop, very well balanced output amongst the three. I hadn't been able to find any reviews of these, so they were a gamble, but… read more it paid off. This set replaced a custom wound set I put in a few years back, which beat the pants off every Strat drop in set I've tried, but these are head & shoulders above those. Plus, at $12 a month, who could resist? Try them - they won't disappoint.
