Sold an early 2000's firebird some years back and have been missing it. Picked up a used 2011 replacement and remembered how much I hate the stock pickups. Had tried Duncan's before and wasn't happy with them. Decided to try these this time around. Wow! Much much better. The output is considerably less than the stock Gibsons, which honestly are way too hot. Tone sings. You can hear… read more the guitar now. Plus they are potted so no squealing. Highly recommend these for more traditional firebird sound. They look stock too. No logos etc. Sweetwater as always got them to me quick and easy.

OK, I had two different sets of pickups in my Firebird before these. Neither set was all that inspiring. I owned a '63 Firebird 1 in the 70's so I knew what they should sound like & knew what I wanted. Popped for the Johnny Winter set and I am blown away. Same tone as the '63 but better...these are potted, so no howls & squeals when cranked. I put these in my Gibson 2017 Pelham Blue Firebird and it transformed the guitar. The stock pick-ups were too hot (for my taste) so this mod has made the guitar hard to put down. Crystal clear cleans and expressive dynamics plus great sustain with distortion enable the FB to cover all the bases (except for metal and beyond in which case the stockers may work for you).
