Amazing little tone machine

I’ve had mine 3 years hadn’t used it much and I was on the verge of selling it as it always sounded thin and not that good, especially on clean channel. I started reading up online about this amp and I learned that these come cold biased from the factory. There are lots of videos showing how to set the bias correctly so I opened it up and checked the bias readings. Both were read more only 29mv per side..!! So fitted a new set of power tubes then adjusted bias on both to 35mv per side as per Marshall recommendations. Now it sounds full and huge the way a Marshall should sound. The clean channel sound is really quite something now very vintage sounding almost fender like but fatter, warmer, bigger and better. My favourite sounds are the green and orange modes on the clean channel and the orange mode on the overdrive channel. I’ve owned Fender, Mesa, Peavey, Vox and other Marshall’s and this little amp after a bit of tweaking beats them all. This really is an amp that now does everything well and is perfect for gigging. I use an Xotic EP booster up front and this really makes the clean channel just sing and pushes it a little more. The effects loops work great with everything. It’s very heavy but it’s rock solid and typical british Marshall quality.

The best marshall ever

Ive played over 40 years both semi pro and pro. I owned 3 Marshalls over the years JCM800 when it first came out in the early 80s, JCM900 and a JCM2000 TSL all 100 watt heads with 4x12 cabs. Nowadays we have great modern PA systems. Nobody needs to carry around a 4x12 beast anymore well not unless you want to..it makes no sense. In the old days we deafened ourselves onstage whilst read more trying to project our sound to the back walls of venues, Thankfully today the PA does the work and onstage we play at much lower levels. This amp is all you need. Its gives all the classic Marshall amp sounds in one cool looking tiny package, the functionality of the footswitch is excellent. The reverb is not fantastic but I use an external hall of fame pedal for that. I found the stock speaker a bit thin sounding, so I put in a G1275 and it brought the sound to life with all the low end classic Marshall thump. I would like to try a vintage 30 in there also someday, but I am happy with it for now. It has great features, all the modern bells & whistles you could ever need or ask for. The red high gain mode is truly amazing. The JVM's are the best amps. Marshall got this just right and its made in the good old UK too.

This is a great sounding amp. Even the cleans are better than I expected. If you are looking for a Marshall tone, any Marshall tone, it's in here. I worked with my Sales Rep: [email protected] on this purchase and his knowledge and customer service was outstanding. Contact Shaka @sweetwater and order this amp. You won't be disappointed.

I've idolized Marshall's for the last 40 years, since I first started playing guitar but this is my first. I have only had this amp for 10 days but I can already tell you I can get any and every classic Marshall sound out of this I can think of. I bought this already having a '65 Twin Reissue and a 65Amps Ventura, and a Strat, a Tele and an LP. The tone I get out of the Marshall, read more especially with the Les Paul, is completely addicting. I can play for HOURS just moving between modes on each channel, ENDLESS tonal choices. I'll still play the Twin and the Ventura, just maybe not for a couple more weeks haha. Seriously, buy this amp. Oh, and it is LOUD too, but with the Master Volume controls (it has 2) you can dial in your exact tone and then make that sound as loud or quiet as you want. And it's built like a tank. Seriously, quit fooling around and buy this!

The 6 footswitch accessible modes across the 2 channels really does amount to six amps in one box. There is a mode for the footswitch where you can store for any switch a preset of channel, mode, reverb on/off, FL loop on off, and master1/master 2. There are so many useful ways to use the footswitch. I use the amp with the stock speaker, which sounds great, or read more with a 2x12 of vintage 30's which sounds fantastic.
