Great ukulele!

This is a beautiful student ukulele! I'm a violinist who is just graduating college to be a music teacher, and I wanted to find a ukulele which might work well for potential future use by students in a music classroom. I don't have ukulele experience, but I do have experience with other string instruments. This would be a great first instrument for a student from what I can tell. read more Expect for it to take a few days for the tuning to settle - this is normal with string instruments - tune it a few times a day for the first week or so. I have only had my ukulele a few days and it is already nicely in tune. It is of durable construction and a lovely green color. As a wooden string instrument player, I was worried that the waterman might sound too plastic-y, but in fact it is surprisingly resonant. This concert size easily fills a room with sound, yet the sound is very gentle (using felt ukulele picks). The concert size was the right fit for me with small/medium size hands and coming from a violin, it didn't feel like too much of a stretch. I would be curious to compare this concert size to the soprano size waterman ukulele. I think this would work very well for students in a classroom. I could see how the plastic nature of it would be convenient and inexpensive, as I wouldn't need to buy a hard case for these, and it would allow for decoration with stickers, sharpie markers, etc. if students wanted to personalize them. I wish it had an end pin so I could wear it with a strap, but otherwise this is a lovely first ukulele. I would be excited to see this offered in more colors and sizes.

Kala Waterman Series Concert Ukulele-Sea Foam Green

After buying this ukulele as a gift for a friend, I was so impressed by it's sound that I bought one for myself. Although the uke is made of plastic, the sound compares favorably to my Kala concert ukulele that's made of wood. The drawstring carrying bag is adequate and helps reduce the purchase cost which would be more with a gig bag. I recommend it for either a beginner or someone read more looking for an extra ukulele.

Nice little uke...

This Is great little ukulele that looks to hold up well through the years. I like the black concert size, would love to see same in a baritone with a deep voice. My only complaint would be myself not filing my order correctly by using the business address line...hence I had to sign for it and missed a delivery attempt. The free shipping was great...however watching the tracking read more app, It was humorous to watch my package as languished in the FEDex hub approx 3 miles from my home for 4 days...

Fun Christmas gift!

I purchased this ukulele for my 10 yo niece. Her favorite color is mint green. She LOVED this ukulele. It was easy to tune and, within a few minutes, she was strumming away. I like that this is made of plastic as I think it will hold up well to kid life and will be easy to keep clean, etc. It was a great gift and she was very happy. Thanks to Toni at Sweetwater for her awesome read more assistance!

Great Travel Uke

We purchased this uke to have an instrument to teach my 9 year old daughter the basics of musical instruments in hopes of moving her up to a guitar down the road. Great size for her to learn on and very easy to play and fret notes. Build quality seems solid on this and ours had no issues with finish or construction. Love the bridge compared to most ukes as this makes string changes read more much easier. The tuners are mediocre-once you get it tuned in and strings broken in they do hold things in tune just fine and you do not have to retune every 5 minutes like some cheap instruments. I wish they were a bit nicer, but at this price point they are honestly what I expected and are functional. Biggest difference in this model is the fact that it is plastic instead of wood which has its own set of pros and cons. Soundwise, its honestly not as warm and full sounding as a wooden uke, plain and simple. But truthfully, it still sounds quite nice and definitely does not sound like a toy. I am overall satisfied with the sound quality and have no regrets in that department, just know that it is a different tone than a typical wooden uke but not dramatically so. Also the plastic is great for a kid or travelling as its easy to clean and can handle spills! Recommended as a good starter or travel uke at a low price.

Durable - Excellent Sound

I was looking for an outdoor uke for an upcoming river trip and stumbled upon this one. Paired up with a set of Aquila Reds (suggested by another reviewer, I prefer the Low G) this uke sounds better than the beginner uke I paid $200 for several years ago. For the price, this uke should be on everyone's list of best beginner ukes and a solid choice for the advanced player looking read more for a camping uke. I couldn't be more thrilled. Worst case, you can always use it for a spare paddle.

A great Ukulele for most occasions

Like all instruments, there are ups and downs to buying this one. Of course for the price this ukulele suggests that it isn't going to have the sound of a $200 ukulele but not only is it durable and cheap, it sounds great and even when playing higher up on the neck it keeps it's sound for the most part.

My first string instrument

It was ready to go right out of the box (after a slight tuning). The first thing I noticed, and others notice is the color. It's BRIGHT but I'd say it's a touch more on the Mint Green side. The color and feel reminds you of the golden age of Ukes, the 40's-50's. The price and the fact it's a plastic body let's you know you can fun with it. I bought it to take on a hiking trip with read more me and I already know it's a perfect fit. I've already spilled water on it and it just wipes off, so I know it'll handle monsoon season, lol. It's not a traditional style of stringing but it's easy. I think my first re-string took me less than a minute (not including the tuning). Sidenote: I replaced the strings with the Aguilla Lava High-C strings and they look GREAT against the Sea Foam Green body (not so much on the black fret board. Black strings on a black fret board... what was I thinking, lol).

Great Quality

Since the ukulele is not made if wood and is waterproof, I have a strong confidence with taking it on my missions trip. Being a 12 hour drive and probably hot, I don't have to worry about humidity. Great uke for the price and excellent sound!
