Great ukulele!
This is a beautiful student ukulele! I'm a violinist who is just graduating college to be a music teacher, and I wanted to find a ukulele which might work well for potential future use by students in a music classroom. I don't have ukulele experience, but I do have experience with other string instruments. This would be a great first instrument for a student from what I can tell.… read more Expect for it to take a few days for the tuning to settle - this is normal with string instruments - tune it a few times a day for the first week or so. I have only had my ukulele a few days and it is already nicely in tune. It is of durable construction and a lovely green color. As a wooden string instrument player, I was worried that the waterman might sound too plastic-y, but in fact it is surprisingly resonant. This concert size easily fills a room with sound, yet the sound is very gentle (using felt ukulele picks). The concert size was the right fit for me with small/medium size hands and coming from a violin, it didn't feel like too much of a stretch. I would be curious to compare this concert size to the soprano size waterman ukulele. I think this would work very well for students in a classroom. I could see how the plastic nature of it would be convenient and inexpensive, as I wouldn't need to buy a hard case for these, and it would allow for decoration with stickers, sharpie markers, etc. if students wanted to personalize them. I wish it had an end pin so I could wear it with a strap, but otherwise this is a lovely first ukulele. I would be excited to see this offered in more colors and sizes.
Kala Waterman Series Concert Ukulele-Sea Foam Green
After buying this ukulele as a gift for a friend, I was so impressed by it's sound that I bought one for myself. Although the uke is made of plastic, the sound compares favorably to my Kala concert ukulele that's made of wood. The drawstring carrying bag is adequate and helps reduce the purchase cost which would be more with a gig bag. I recommend it for either a beginner or someone… read more looking for an extra ukulele.
Ukulele
It was a great product and an amazing color 10/10 would recommend.
Fun Christmas gift!
I purchased this ukulele for my 10 yo niece. Her favorite color is mint green. She LOVED this ukulele. It was easy to tune and, within a few minutes, she was strumming away. I like that this is made of plastic as I think it will hold up well to kid life and will be easy to keep clean, etc. It was a great gift and she was very happy. My first string instrument
It was ready to go right out of the box (after a slight tuning). The first thing I noticed, and others notice is the color. It's BRIGHT but I'd say it's a touch more on the Mint Green side. The color and feel reminds you of the golden age of Ukes, the 40's-50's. The price and the fact it's a plastic body let's you know you can fun with it. I bought it to take on a hiking trip with… read more me and I already know it's a perfect fit. I've already spilled water on it and it just wipes off, so I know it'll handle monsoon season, lol. It's not a traditional style of stringing but it's easy. I think my first re-string took me less than a minute (not including the tuning). Sidenote: I replaced the strings with the Aguilla Lava High-C strings and they look GREAT against the Sea Foam Green body (not so much on the black fret board. Black strings on a black fret board... what was I thinking, lol).
