Amazing bass and a back saver

I own 10 basses and love them all. But man, for practicing around the house they are all just a bit too heavy for my 50 year old shoulders and back. Because of this I wanted to find the lightest yet cool looking bass I could find. I wasn't too concerned about sound or playability. I just wanted something light and cool. A quick search led me to discover the Kramer D-1. Looking read more at the site here I found one that was under 7 pounds. I pounced on it. I have to say that there are some QC issues with the bass, but I chalk it up to being Indonesian made and a budget bass. My issues were right out of the box the control cavity cover had one stripped screw and another screw had split the wood, so out of 4 screws, only two were holding the cover on. A minor beef that can be fixed somewhat easily. There were also some minor rough spots on the finish. Again, not that big a deal. What I did not expect was an amazing sounding instrument with a great neck. I have huge hands so I need a chunky neck to avoid finger pain. I rolled the dice on this bass, but the neck turned out to be really nice. The bass balances well, is dead quiet and feels great to play. And did I say this thing was light? Well, if you're a middle aged bassist generally playing these days around the house, pick up one of these as a beater. Quite honestly, I'm not ready to sell some of my more unused vintage basses in my collection. I just don't see myself playing them too much. I can play this D-1 for hours and feel zero pain. To me this bass is primarily aimed at older players needing a light practice instrument. But it looks seriously cool, sounds great and I'm sure the youngins would be very happy with it too.

Outstanding

This bass is amazing. Low body weight really helps and the thin neck eliminated fret hand fatigue. The pearl white finish is crisp and clean. Most importantly, our sound guy said is the best bass sound he has mixed.

An Underrated Beast of a Bass!

After deliberating over buying one for almost a year, I finally decided to get myself this bass, and it's now my go-to! The JB humbucker is incredibly versatile and delivers a strong variety of tones, and the neck is incredibly slim and easy to shred out basslines on! A worthy investment and a great addition to any collection!
