This bass is amazing. The quality control on Lakland is top notch. I'm not a fan of the tuners if I have to be nit picky but they are good tuners. Everything else I couldn't complain about if I had to. The neck is smooth and thin and the tone is excellent. All materials are top quality. Flawless bass.

It's a perfect corollary to any other passive basses you have. The action is just right, the tone is as you would want, and it works for many types of gigs and genres. It's a beautiful bass, period.

Over the years, I have come to trust the quality and workmanship of premium U.S.-made basses. I owned a Lakland Skyline 5-string 20 years ago, in the acclaimed Made in Korea days, but I wasn't sure what to expect from the newer, Indonesian Skyline series. I need not have worried. The craftsmanship on this Lakland Skyline DJ-4 meets or exceeds that of my top-of-the-line Fender American… read more Professional II P-bass. The neck, fretboard, and frets of the Lakland are perfect. Beautifully done. Perfect, very fast finish on the back of the neck. Fretboard edges are wonderfully smooth. The bridge, the tuners, the pots are all of the highest quality (and the pots are much, much better than those on the Fender American Professional II P-bass and J-bass). The pickups are the best J-bass pickups I've ever heard. Beautiful tone. I firmly believe that bass tone is mainly in the fingers, but these pickups help it along. The quality and workmanship on this bass is comparable to or even better than on the best U.S.-made basses. The Lakland exceeds my expectations.

This guitar's fit and finish is great. The neck may be the nicest I've played. Electronics - smooth and high quality. Well worth the $ - highly recommended. Nick Grawcock is my Sweetwater rep - give this man a raise immediately!

Walked into my local music store, saw this...had only been there two days...told them to hold it...went home, grabbed my other Lakland, traded in my light blue DJ4 for this one. Bass of my dreams. Plays and sounds great.If you can get one....do it.
