Blown away by how good this amp is.
I borrowed a Fishman artist from a student of mine to play some small acoustic/electric gigs and the tone for acoustic guitar just killed me. But when I attempted to buy one they were gone. I grudgingly ponied up the extra couple of hundred for the Fishman performer which seemed like more amp than I needed for these gigs but all I could get. I'm glad I did. This thing can cover… read more a lot of bases. I've used it with a gretsch rancher, a Taylor acoustic electric and a gretsch dobro (with Fishman pickup) and all sound great through it. Any feedback was easily gotten rid of with the anti feedback control. It also works great with my gretsch 5420 hollow body electric for a clean jazz sound. I have been running both the gretsch and a tele through the second channel and a line 6 GO and it works in a pinch when you need (or get) to sound distorted. I can tell it's processed but most of the people in the audience can't. Really great amp.
Excellent small venue amp
I would describe the tone as clear, accurate and uncolored. The EQ controls are quite musical: not simply boosting or cutting a frequency, but adding warmth and detail. I've played through a number of acoustic amps that sounded 'nasal' in the mids no matter what EQ adjustments were made...not so with the Loudbox. Though I use a pedalboard for effects, the onboard effects are surprisingly… read more fun to play with. A touch of chorus adds a bit of depth & sparkle. With both my Taylor's and my Lowden I can easily get acoustic tone where the character of each guitar is well captured. The aforementioned warmth and detail is present while strumming power chords or finger picking delicate passages. Add super low noise and zero artifacts and you have a very capable acoustic amp. I like it a LOT.
Fishman Pro Loudbox 700
I have had my LB 700 since 7/03/2019 and simply fell in love with the clarity in sound from the minute I heard it. I am an acoustic player who just strums at home so no gigging and no rocking out but now 18 months later, I am experiencing a loss of clarity (humming) which now has me not plugging in to play. Have changed from Line 6 to hard wire (Mogami) and still sounds bad. … read more Have read on blogs regarding this being an ongoing issue with Fishman LB over time. has anyone else encountered this?
Powerful!!! Very Pleased!
The Fishman Loudbox Performer provides MORE than enough volume for my needs; If anything, it may be TOO powerful. Fills a medium-size church sanctuary with clear sound at one-quarter volume. Sound quality is very clear. I play a Martin M-36 acoustic with the K&K Pure Mini pickup through this Performer. It is the most natural amplified acoustic sound I have ever heard. NO feedback!… read more Tilt-back option is very nice to have, as it also serves as my monitor. The less expensive Loudbox Artist may have been a better fit for my needs, with its slightly less power (120 vs 180 watts) for less money; however, I am very pleased with my purchase. Sweetwater had it to me within 3 days via FedEx ground. Their service is alway high quality.
Loudbox Performer - Listen to Doc Pearson
If you have read the review below from Doc Pearson, he is hitting the nail on the head. I own both the Artist and Performer. If you are running vocals, the Performer is the right choice. Adding the GXT Harmony pedal provides not only very natural harmonies, but the Tone button on the GXT adds total polish to the vocals. The Performers extra mid-range speaker (absent in the Artist)… read more covers the frequency range where most vocals sit. Together, the Performer and GXT is a real gift to the solo singer/songwriter environment. The ONLY addition I would make is to a add a Baggs Session DI to the guitar signal. It offers the same polish to the instrument that the GXT does to vocal. To quote Doc......"Your quest is over!"
