Misleading finish

Scott McClelland

Giving this guitar a 1 star rating is hard to do because this little guitar is really nice for the price point. It is a well made, solid little guitar. The binding is really nice on it and something you don't necessarily find on a guitar in this price point. The quality and playability of this guitar is great. I actually really loved it. BUT now we have to get to the reason it was read more returned and why the low rating. First a quick backstory- I bought this for my 10 year old nephew as his first guitar. It was to be a Christmas present and I ordered it last minute, unfortunately. The pictures show a nice silver flake, silver sparkle in it, and that would have been great. When the guitar came to me and I pulled it out of the box, I was shocked to see that the silver sparkle in the finish was not ONLY silver glitter, it was VERY glittery in red and green and yellow sparkled- It looked like a kindergartener had gone crazy with glue and glitter! It looked like a lit up Christmas tree! Which for Christmas was cool, but for a 10 year old boy it was NOT very inspiring. If crazy red, yellow, green, and silver glitter is your thing, then you will love it, but for my 10 year old male nephew, it was not his thing. It was not just a little bit of glitter either, it is covered in it. I am still amazed at how different it looks than the pictures. There is absolutely NO Way that the pictures represent what this guitar really looks like in real life. Which is really too bad because it really is a nice little guitar and it would have been the perfect first guitar for my nephew. If not for the crazy glitter, I would have been a very proud Uncle. The glitter makes it look very childish and kiddie, which he is really young, but it makes this guitar look very cheap and more toyish than the professional quality that it is. Really too bad. They missed the boat on this guitar finish and the pictures do this guitar a big disservice as well. I LOVE Sweetwater and it pains me to write a bad review, but I hope it can give others some pre-buying information so you are not as stunned and disappointed as I was. So I did not have enough time to get him another guitar to have under the tree at Christmas- since I did not have enough time to order another one in time. That was my fault, but the painstaking time I took to pick out the perfect guitar for his first one, ended up being a big swing and miss because of the misleading photos. Sorry guys, but this one is definitely not as advertised.... Unfortunately, because it really was a nice guitar that played and felt very good with great quality for this price point- BUMMER...

Bought for my son

I bought this for my son as it was recommended by my sales rep. It is a good guitar that plays fairly well. The only thing to be aware of is the picture doesn't show the complete coloratiion of the guitar. It has a multicolor glitter affect in the paint. To me it looks more like a girls guitar, but my son is still using it and hasn't complained. Outside of that it's a good guitar read more for beginners to learn with.

My First Guitar

This is my first guitar and my first ever musical instrument. I wanted an inexpensive guitar I could start teaching myself on, and I enjoyed playing it so much that I would like to play guitar as a permanent hobby. This is a great guitar for anyone (ladies especially) with a smaller body type looking for an acoustic guitar to learn on. The color pops and it also serves as an accessory read more in my living room. It also complements my skin tone. I love it so much. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Great beginner guitar

This guitar looks much better than the pictures can capture, very sparkly. For a small scale guitar I was surprised how good it sounded. The setup on the guitar was perfect, nice and low and very easy to play. I did put a set of 10 gauge strings "Earthwood ernie ball" and wow what a difference it made. My granddaughter loves it, had her playing her first chords in minutes it was read more so easy to play. Looks and sounds pretty darn good for a 3/4 size guitar, it's no baby Taylor or a Martin but for the price you can't go wrong. Highly recommend for young beginners.

My instrument arrived in thorough packaging_the Teal Sparkle really pops.Has a good basic tone_but,the cheap strings had to go into the trash.I realize at this price point I will get less.I replaced the 12gauge with 11gauge name brand bronze. Will replace tuners with Ping brand. In time will upgrade to BabyTaylor!

This guitar was even prettier in person with all the added shimmer and shine. My friend tuned it and said it played like a full size guitar.
