Does the job
An EQ pedal isn't the most glamorous item on your pedalboard like your usual pedals such as: chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and etc, but tone is important to your sound. Tone is important because no matter how many other effects you are going through, if your tone is bad, it makes it all sound bad. One of the most obvious means of control over your tone is the use of some form… read more of equalization. I have a number of MXR pedals and I have always been satisfied with the quality of their products, regarding both the sound as well as the durability. MXR pedals consist of a very solid metal chasis and switches designed to turn them on and off over and over again without fail. The quality of the sound they produce, no matter what the effect, is high. So, as a brand, they have my utmost respect. I was originally considering their larger EQ unit (the 10 band EQ) but I opted for something that would take up less of my valuable pedalboard space. So I decided to get the 6 band EQ instead. As far as sound goes, it definitely does what it is supposed to do. But the unit has one big plus and that is the fact that it has LED's on each of the sliders. This makes it easier to make adjustments on it in dimly lit rooms. I have some vision issues and that feature is actually quite helpful to me. Overall, I am very pleased with the pedal.
Sound Shaper
A fantastic tool to shape your electric or acoustic tone. Quiet and powerful. One of my "never gonna let go of this" pieces.
Great pedal
I love mine using it to boost the mids in the front of the amp for my passive pickups
My New Secret Weapon
After watching some rig rundown videos (Tom Bukovac), it became obvious that an eq pedal was what I was looking for. I've been a disciple of the TS sound forever, usually I just leave it on, but have always had issues pairing a lead tone with the TS. I love the presence in a live mix that I get with a TS, and find that when I would go in to a lead and kick on a higher gain pedal,… read more my presence in my bands mix would be gone. I just added this 6 band eq to my board, placed after the TS (TS side of the JHS Sweet Tea V2) and wow, what a difference. I have it set in a way where it doesn't change the sonic space I occupy with my band, doesn't really change my tone that much, but just gives a little extra in the mids/highs, gets rid of any flobby low end and gives me an extra gear to come forward in the mix a bit. Great build quality, very quiet, inexpensive, love the blue LED's on the faders. Could not me happier with my purchase. A+
