I've owned this pedal for years...with my new set up,i use it behind a full-tone fulldrive III(which is a little rough around the edges)...into a tweed Jr. ...and I leave it turned off...'don't even engage the switch..it's still just enough to take the edge off...and,since it's not true bypass, the knobs still tweek the sound even when its off...it gives it a more subtler effect, which read more I prefer

I've had this compressor for about a year and have found it to be a very diverse comp pedal. It can be dialed in from subtle to squashed. I wanted a comp pedal that could be transparent, and this does the job very well. When on, it has increased my noise floor (on high gain amp channel) slightly, but I've found that to be the case with some other (rackmount) compressors I've used read more with guitar.

MXR Super Comp

This pedal is one of those pedals that should get more praise and recognition that it does. The MXR Super Comp does two things really well, it gives you great sustain and flavors your sound by adding more gain if you chose to. Great pedal I run it in the front of my chain and it works amazing.

Not expensive, not complicated, works great on bass

Old Reliable

I have owned the MXR Super Compressor for almost 10 years and haven't had any problems with it while using it on my bass. I can dial in great tone with it on any rig while my expensive rack mount compressor/limiter keeps malfunctioning. The MXR continues to be reliable in my effects lineup. Great for beginners as well as advanced players on-stage or in rehearsal. I am sure this read more would still be a great compressor even without the attack level knob.
