THE Classic Delay Pedal
How do you write a review about a classic? It feels like writing about a Les Paul Custom or a Fender Twin Reverb. The MXR Carbon Copy is the standard by which all other delay pedals are compared. First of all, I've had many delays, all of them digital. For the most part I was okay with that, never having used an analog delay and not knowing any different. And to be fair, some… read more digital delays can sound pretty decent. Just recently I decided to put together a quality pedal board, sparing no expense this time. I read many reviews, watched dozens of comparative videos, then chose the MXR CC. There is a darn good reason why this pedal has so many favorable reviews. It sounds very natural, warm and thick. Very musical and pleasing to the ear. I've found myself using it in places where I wouldn't ordinarily use delay because it adds a wonderful depth and richness to just about everything. My pedalboard will never be without the MXR CC again. If anything ever happens to this one, I'll buy another one immediately, maybe two.
Great pedal
It was a perfect sound that I needed
Thick and warm
you don't buy this pedal because it's super high fidelity and crystal clear, you buy it because you want that warm vintage fluttered and saturated sound, the only thing digital delays do is fight with you in the sonic space, this delay gives depth but it sounds at a different frequency which makes it very pleasant to the ear
Love this pedal
This is a great delay pedal. I'm really enjoying it. I use it all the time with my band. That being said - I had to learn how to use it. You can not play with it into an overdrive channel. Its sounds mushy. It has to go onto a clean channel with the overdrive pedal placed before the delay. Then it works absolutely great. If you have a send/receive - that works for the delay… read more too but my amp does not have that feature. I'm still getting great overdrive breakup into the clean channel using my OCD pedal into my Marshall. And the delay is always on.
Great delay pedal
This delay pedal is a great pedal. Great echoes and repeats. The mod button adds a slight reverb effect. Be careful when dialing in, if there is a signal when adjusting the delay pot, it gets this crazy rapid repeat that turns into a unpleasant feedback. There is no tap tempo to adjust the time of the repeats on the go hands free. I don't know a lot about delay effects but i guess… read more that's the difference between analog and digital delays. This is my first delay pedal in a single stompbox unit. All the delays I've used were my line 6 spider IV 120 combo amp and my digitech GNX 3 and 4 modeling processors. That is about the extent of my experience with delay effects. But overall i like this pedal and would recommend.
