Best Strings for a darker-sounding guitar
I have tried a bunch of different strings on one of my guitars, which tends toward the darker side of the sound spectrum--coated, non-coated, Monels, "boutique" brands, PB...I find that these Martin 80/20s really bring out the best sound -- they are a very bright string, but it's just what this guitar needs--makes it shine and bloom, and project and cut more than any of the other… read more strings. Very Disappointed
Martin replaced a good string, the SP, with this. And raised to price to boot. The mediums sound okayish, but the light's are just horrible. Unfortunately, I took advantage of a sale and bought six sets. I can't wait to use them up so I can go to something better. Probably go back to the old tried and true D'addario J16's. Really disappointed in these new Martins, the SP's were… read more great strings. Like they say, if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!
Awesome strings!
Bought my first Martin back in August. Throughout my career I"ve mainly used Elixir"s and D"Addario"s. Elixir"s are just too expensive for as many strings as I would pop and D"Addario"s would lose their tone pretty fast. I had tried Martin"s early on and wasn"t very impressed. I figured I"d give em another try when they released the Authentic series. I play about 8-12 times a month… read more so I change strings every other week usually. I put these on the beginning of the month and they"re still about as good as the day I put em on. I am highly satisfied and will be using the Martin Authentic series strings from now on!
