I've tried every string brand there is from every country when it comes to phosphor bronze. I used to hate Martin strings. When I heard they changed the formula, wrap ratio, better materials, and simplified, I didn't buy it st first. The old ones always had weird metallic overtones that mo other strings had. These definitely don't. And not only that, they're perfect. They are clear… read more and bright, but warm and bassy. The highs are clear as can be. They have great overtones. That hasn't changed, but not metallic ones. Nice and loud and reverberate. And last for me pretty decent. I used to only use GHS, Pearse, Newtones, and other high end brands. Martin not only stands with the best now, but beats the Pearse phosphor hands down. In fact, I like them more than anything but GHS. I don't like GHS more, they're just different. The Martins have a slightly smaller core than ghs, who uses a very thick core. So they have more overtones, less stiff, and are brighter. Yet warm. You hear more string, but not metal. With good sustain. The GHS have more thump and fudemental and are warmer. Yet still clear enough. And are definitely louder with an echoing sustain that's impressive if you like that. Both are loud. So it depends what you like. But from now on, on my Martin 000-28 1937 custom authentic, all it gets as far as phosphor are Martin authentics, Martin authentic 2.0s, GHS, and GHS Americanas. Depending on the sound I want. You will not be disappointed. They absolutely are a different formula. They also are packed great. They don't go bad now. And from the sounds to the trebles, they're balanced,bright, yet deep and rich with overtones. Just a great balance basically but still have the Martin growl.

Terrible

These are doggy-doo. No brilliance whatsoever and completely dead after the 3rd day. Bought a new Martin and thought I'd try Martin strings. These were on sale, may as well throw them away, they made my guitar sound terrible. Back to the trusty Diadarrio custom lights, now it sounds like a new guitar!

Ive been using the ma535,s and the light retro 41y19mm12,s,on all my guitars. The retros add a old time tone to my gibson G 45 .The ma535,s are on all the rest of my guitars. The martin strings just seem to have a better balance on my guitars. imo.The breedloves playability improved 50% over the d adaario, or elixir strings i used previously . Martin ma535 authentic strings

Wow, just put these on my breedlove, ..ma535lights .phosphur bronze. i wont go back to 80/20 bronze .Or elixir strings. Im amazed at not just the tone and sustain,but the playability just improved. and i thought the playability was as close to perfect as humanly possible.Im sold
