I went on a search for the best string on a new Martin 00-28, tried lot's of different high end ($$$$) strings and found the best strings for my Martin are made by Martin, go figure. These seem to take longer to settle in/break in than other strings, maybe a couple days. Someone wrote, not enough "base",.. well not to my ear after break in, the MA540FX are beautifully balanced,… read more great sounding strings. And at a bargain price.

I've played guitar 43 years and I've used the same strings for the last 12 years. I was convinced they were the best and I wasn't going to change. These strings have been on my guitar for a month+ and they sound wonderful. But the point that made me love these strings was the ability to bend them and they don't hurt my calluses. they don't squeak as bad as the strings I used to… read more have. As long as you make these strings, I'll buy them.

The base isnt as pronounced as much as i wanted, but the main criticism is that they're noisy, when you slide its distracting.

Finally found the sound And feel I been looking for ! A little squeaky but I'm adjusting my playing for it . I'm playing an Ovation medium body . Not that it matters but if good enough for Tommy Emmanuel it's got to be good enough for me !
