Balanced tone on my Santa Cruz Guitar Company OM Custom (Italian spruce top)
I've been searching for the optimal strings for my guitar and playing styles. Quite happy with these Phosphor Bronze (MA550) Medium 13. Really balanced tone. Maybe a hair less deep bottom than some of the other good strings I've tried, not necessarily a bad thing. Easy correction in recording using mic placement to add a bit if one wanted. I plan to test next their 80/20s and maybe… read more some Lights to see the tonal differences.
So far, I like them.
I"ve been using and loving Retros on my Martin and Taylor Put my first set of Authentics on, and my Martin really brightened up (DRS-1). It retained the Martin sound, but articulated more clearly. Four stars because I haven"t had the test of time yet. But if they last as long as the Retros—I play a lot—then these are my new number 1.
