Best combo amp for all styles music
I needed a powerful combo tube amp to play everything from cleans to jazz and blues rock to face melting metal that I could take to jams and advanced guitar lessons without carry a separate amp head and cab. This amp is a beast! The cleans are great Fender like and crunch mode gets killer blues rock tones. Dozens of modes and switches to explore and I am an amp tweak junkie so I… read more really enjoy creating new tones. BUT my favorite two things are the 2C+ mode and 5 band graphic EQ. These are fantastic for metal and hard rock shaping tones and the other great thing is real tube amp sound with option to go from 35 watts to 10 watts for practice and rehearsals. Not a cheap amp but USA made quality and superb! I compared it to my ENGL Ironball small tube amp and while the ENGL Ironball is a great amp for metal, the Mesa blows it away.
Coolest Amp In The World !!!
The tonal options and possibilities are too numerous to mention but suffice it to say this amp can do it all. Extreme build quality down to the noiseless fan running in the background keeping the EL84 tubes happy and cool. The footswitch provides for live performance control. The amp responds well to guitar volume change allowing the guitarist to back off the volume for clean… read more and increasing volume and crunch as the volume knob is rolled back up for leads or dirtier rhythm. All this in a small beautifully crafted package. Even at the 10 watt setting the amp is extremely loud with the Black Shadow speaker handling cleans to metal with a great vintage tone. If I could only have one amp this would be my choice.
Mark V 35
Great amp. I knew the gain channels would be killer and I was surprised the clean channels are so good. A lot of sparkle and clarity in the clean channels - California vintage amp tones with more clarity. The gain channels sound great in the combo but I will say the "extreme" channel needs a recto celestion cab to bring out the best. If I had to improve one thing just slightly… read more I would give the reverb a stronger driver 'cause there isn't a ton of reverb on tap, but it is a very good reverb.
Great amp
Only had it for a couple of weeks, love it already. Sweet sweet sweet clean channel, that goes all the way to a great crunch tone. I like the fat mode with the gain around 4 for clean. Still figuring out the dirt channel, so many options. It picks up from the beautiful clean/crunch all the way to metal, and everything in between. This amp does it all.
Mesa Boogie Mark v
Wow this took to long for me to find !! Excellent quality and sound from Mesa once again I used to own a mark iii which I recently sold I thought I lost a child , but then I bought this new model . Love the clean channel, and the reverb so many Tones from different style of guitars , the crunch channel has just the right amount of dirt , may need to reconfigure the pedal board.… read more Plenty of volume awesome.
