Holy Grail
Martin triple 0's are the most under rated guitar. They sound great and feel even better. Of course Ben Robinson is the reason I shop at Sweetwater he is not a salesman but a good friend . If you don't have a Martin get one from Ben and Sweetwater you will not be disappointed !
Beautiful player
I originally wanted the sunburst but only the ambertone was available. Glad that was the case. Have wanted rosewood b/s for a long time. This does not disappoint. Tones are wonderful. The plekked neck is a real hot although I think it could benefit from a setup with the action lowered ever so slightly. Still it's great to play. And of course Charlie Davis is the best. Couldn't… read more ask for a friendlier more helpful and caring sales engineer. All in all a great transaction.
Martin 000-28 Ambertone
Let me first say there are many better guitarist's and muscian's out there than myself. After approximately six month's of researching acoustic guitar's, I finally made a decision on the Martin 000-28 Ambertone. It all started with Eric Clapton Unplugged, and one of the early model's 000-28. Everything was matched up against that. Nick LaMendola, Sweetwater Sales Engineer was very… read more helpful in this journey on bringing forth suggestion's and point of view's. I read a comment someone made, he said, "if you have a Martin HD28, you need a 000-28." But my point of view is somewhat different. If you have neither, you need the 000-28. It came down to these two guitar's for me. I called Nick one morning and told him I was somewhat stuck between the two. He said, "the 000-28 is the one you've been focused on from the start, that's the one to go with." A few day's later the 000-28 arrived at my door. The guitar was playing before it came out of the case. It is amazingly comfortable and with phenomenal tone's. I know there are many point of view's out there on acoustic guitar's. The Martin 000-28 could very well be the finest guitar they make. Trust me, I'm not saying that because I own one, but because I believe it to be true. I recommend you give one a try.
Owned my 000-28 for a year
Purchased it at Sweetwater, and all that stuff about their good service is true. I like the ambertone finish. The guitar plays great and sounds even better now than when I bought it (the tone of a new guitar tends to "open up" after a few months of playing). Other things I like about this 000 guitar are the scalloped braces for the guitar top, which allow it to move and respond… read more a bit more than non-scalloped braces (most 000s do not have this feature) and the fact that it is a "short-scale" guitar. Most guitars have a 25.4" scale length (measured from nut to saddle) 000s are a half-inch shorter at 24.9". As a person with medium-sized hands, I find the shorter scale more comfortable, especially for chords that require a big stretch. The tuning machines are also very nice. They move smoothly and feel very precise. They use nice wood to make these guitars. Rosewood and spruce for the body. Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The neck looks like mahogany to me, but it is described as "select hardwood" by Martin. I"m not certain, but I believe they use that description because some of their guitar necks use wood other than mahogany, such as Spanish cedar, sapele, sipo/utile or African mahogany (khaya). The case is of the thermoplastic variety, with five latches and an embossed Martin logo. It fits the guitar well, but provides less-than-average storage for picks, capos, tuner, strap, etc. The only changes I made to the guitar were to have a strap button and a pickup installed. I"m still happy with my purchase.
Martin 000-28
Great guitar, great service. Shipped fast and arrived exactly as advertised. Not much to say about the guitar. It's a Martin - if you have to ask, you wouldn't understand. Never disappointed!
