THE pedal for plate
If you love plate reverb, this is the one for you. It's extremely good, and very tweakable. I like the modulation, and I'll use that occasionally, but I'll probably never use the octave/shimmer stuff. It does it well, if you're into that. But I always thought that no matter how pristine the shimmer, it still sounds cheesy. To each their own and all. But seriously, the surprise… read more here is the cathedral stuff. Not something I THOUGHT I'd use (I literally bought this as a single use pedal) but it turns out that it'll be more versatile for me after all. I'm not a church guy, but cathedral makes it feel like you're in.......a cathedral. Just an amazing sound!! It's not the jack of all trades like some pedals are, but if you're wanting high quality, this is the real deal. Disclaimer: I've also got a Golden Reverberator coming today, as I type this. We'll see who's the heavy weight reverb champ of the world!
Maybe a little limited, but amazing
Sure, it's only got two algorithms technically. But those two algorithms can be modulated, pitched all over the place, and used to obtain otherworldly tones. Or maybe you just want the purest, amazing plate you've heard? This does that. Passed on a Blue Sky for this, and I'm glad I did.
Mercury 7
Killer pedal for big big big ambient soundscapes. While this pedal isn't known for versatility- aka it doesn't come with a tone of preloaded algorithms for different verb types- you can actually get a lot out of this if you tweak it. If you are familiar with the old Lexicon 224- even just with the UAD plugin- then you'll find that you can sculpt a lot of the same sort of short decay… read more room sounds with this pedal- but at a higher fidelity actually than the 224 which was 12bit or something. So it's sort of like having a very Hi Fi, very lush 224. And of course it has all sorts of weird octave and pitch effects that the 224 does not have, so it can take you in different directions. It's pretty amazing as reverb pedals go- so well laid out, easy to use, yet very adaptable.
Amazing for synths too!
I use this with my Prophet 5 to make it stereo and for the reverb and it is just sublime. Very easy to dial in a great sound. Definitely shines with longer reverb times. The modulation is my favorite part, adds a lot of character without going too nuts. I have the modular version as well, can't go wrong with this pedal!
Fantastic Reverb for Synths
Absolutely love this pedal. Very transparent and effective. While most color the sound this one is translucent. The controls are direct and effective. The Ultraplate setting is one of the best plates I have heard and is really wonderful for staccato shapes. The Cathedra is wonderful for more ambient slow attack tones. Just a wonderfully engineered and build pedal.
