Love it!
Unpacked it and ran it through my 5e3 clone with a Strat, the amp never sounded so good! From subtle to surf, and even a slap back effect with the knobs dimed. Tweed and reverb!
"I really like mine!"
Be careful: I purchased this device in November of 2018, and I remember specifically reading so many contradicting reviews. It's my opinion that there is no such thing as bad gear. All gear is good. The question is then: Does a particular piece of gear do for you what you want/need? The answer, of course, is based on where you are on your unique tonal journey which may or… read more may not change as you grow and develop. It's also important to note that everyone's ideal spring reverb sound is a little different as is the sound (haha) of literally every spring reverb tank. Also, important to note that people use spring reverbs in different ways for different reasons and methods. What I'm trying to say is: Read reviews carefully, because it's really all subjective (based on personal feelings, tastes, and opnions.) Overview: It is exactly what it says that it is: a faux (fake/imitation of/artificial) spring reverb. There are no false claims in the title. I love that! Will it sound and respond exactly like a true spring reverb? Of course not! Can it get ridiculously close? You better believe it! I personally believe this will be most loved by people that are seeking an always on, subtle amp style spring reverb. In my opnion: it does this very well. I really like mine! Details: 1.) Mine does make a popping sound when engaging/disengaging the pedal. This does not bother me, because I use it as an always on pedal. (This might actually be something that I am doing wrong as far as powering the device.) 2.) I am really sensitive and easily annoyed by gear that has a high noise floor (adds noise/hum/hiss when engaged). I often return or resale them almost immediately if they do, but this pedal does not bother me in the least bit. I have heard horror stories about noisy reverb pedals. Mine has really impressed me with just how quiet that it is (other than that on/off pop). 3.) I love that it does not seem to brighten, darken, color, or change my core tone (to my ears)! 4.) It seems to me that most pedal builders (admittedly) try to sneak in a touch of modulation into even their spring reverbs? I personally do not like that. I dare say that I hate it! If there is modulation in this pedal: I can't hear it. 5.) The controls have a huge range! I find this very useful! Hope this is helpful to you! Cheers!
Wampler Mini Faux Spring Reverb Pedal
For such a small pedal it is very versatile and compatible with different types of music. Easy to use and made really well. Very impressed with the pedal and the quality of the sounds it is capable of producing.
The only reverb pedal you'll need
I prefer to use this reverb pedal instead of my amp's on board reverb. It has a big beautiful and crystal clear sound.
You want real Spring reverb
I have been playing guitar since the early 60's and I have owned Blackface original amps with 3 spring reverb in them. So I know what a good 3 spring sounds like and this pedal is IT !!! In ACES !!! Brian Wampler has some how found a way to shrink that Accutronics 3 spring in to a very tiny pedal that faithfully reproduces that exact tone, dwell and splash of a true 3 spring.… read more There's no digital harshness or false tone to it , it just sounds like a pure spring reverb. It was even small enough to fit down inside my non-reverb Marshall Origin amp so once I found the exact amount of reverb I wanted I set it and forget it, it was out of sight and controlled by the effects loop footswitch for on and off. It will fit on about any pedal board since it is very small in foot print. It does have to use a 9V DC power supply, it doesn't run on a battery. I had a Keely Omni reveb pedal but it was noisy and just didn't reproduce a true spring reverb. Very digital sounding at best. Which I found odd because Robert Keely makes great stuff. The Omni might be for some players but to my ears it just didn't cut it. Alan Carter was a great help in finding me the right reverb pedal and as always the best rep on Sweetwater. I have been buying from him for many years now.
