Vox Mini Go 50
Only thing portable about the Mini Go 50 is the battery power. Just make sure you have the 3A rated USB C cable which you need to buy separate from the battery. The carrying strap is a horrible idea. There is a guard on the back that looks like a handle, but Vox says don't use it for a handle. If you carry it with the strap, make sure the grill side is next to your leg or the… read more previously mentioned guard will rub and bruise your leg. It's a little on the heavy side, so carrying a guitar with one hand and this amp with the other becomes a laborious chore and that's when you might start to ponder what part of "portable", "mini", and "Go" this thing is. Sounds ok, tilt back is nice. Loop and rhythm feature is fun to practice and mess with but there is no feature to save your work. There is no cover that I could find so if there is rain in the forecast you might want to consider taking another amp. Over-all cheaply made and maybe only worth about half the $ list price.
Great but room for improvement
I own a 1st generation 3 watt 5" speaker version (Mini3)of this amp and Vox Tone Lab preamp/processor. I'm very happy with both so I had high expectations for the 50 watt version. I was looking to upgrade and considered the 10 watt but figured 10 watts, a rhythm machine and looper might be too much for a 6.5" speaker so I opted for the 50 (separate bass and treble vs tone control… read more also)with the 8" speaker, not sure if even that would be good enough. Well, I've had the amp for about a week now, after a few days I realized the 8" speaker was just OK. The amp itself is great but they always seem to try to cut corners with just a "good but could be better" speaker. So while researching replacement speakers it occurred to me there's a pretty lot of room wonder if a 10 would fit? As you can see it fits just fine. Wow what a difference! I went with an Eminence Ragin' Cajun and couldn't be happier with my choice, cranks more like a 12 than a 10 and blows the 8" just out of the water. So as it ships it's a great amp, versatile, loaded with features and sounds really good but if you want to take it to another level swap that speaker and you'll be amazed
