Best strings for the old Ibanez.

My first and only acoustic has been an Ibanez ae. It's the cool quilted purple burst one. I've always had trouble getting the right amount of warm and bright with it. Regular bronze offer warm but very little bright with this particular guitar. Phosphor bronze was really close but ended up a touch too bright. These strings balanced it all out perfectly. It's strange to see a silver read more colored string instead of bronze but they sound beautiful with it so really no complaints. Killer product and I'll be using theee from now on. For reference I've tried about every brand on this guitar and Martin string are where I've always been happiest. Glad the monel were the ticket.

The best.

I've used these strings for many years on my Martin 000. They sound great and last for many months. I play on them everyday. I gig in and out of hot, cold and damp venues and never a problem. I prefer these over all the other major brands and have tried most of them. The sound is subdued and locks in after about 10-20 hours of played.

Impressed after a few months

I've been playing for 45 years. I played professionally back in the day, as the kids say. Nothing special, clubs and a few theater shows. These days just at home and occasionally in church, 99% acoustic. I've been mostly a Martin man, SP's and standard. I changed strings every couple months. I decided to give these Monel strings a try. I waited 6 months before writing a review read more to see if they lived up to the hype. I put them on my main acoustic, a Silver Creek T160, which is a Chinese copy of a Martin OOO-18. I like the feel, a little softer than bronze. A little bright at first, like all strings, but they settled into the broken in tone after a week, and have held that "just right" sound ever since. The extra life makes them worth the extra money imo, and I like the feel and the tone.

Martin Retro

I settled on the Martin Retro strings on my last guitar, Martin DRSG, after trying the Martin Authentic first. I ended up liking the Retros sound, feel and durability much more. I changed strings after six months even though they didn't need it. Had that guitar for almost three years, played it almost everyday. Just sold that guitar (felt bad after I sold it, was a Nazareth PA read more built DRSG), to upgrade to a D-28. I had the D-28 setup by Sweetwater with the Authentic so I could give those strings a try again. After just one month I noticed the discoloration and change in sound quality. Put some Retros on the other day and wow, the guitar really does sound so much better. The quality of notes is pristine and the feel under my fingers is fantastic. It does take a day or two of playing before the Retros settle in but then they become the best sounding strings in my opinion. And there longevity is a real bonus.
