Great Gauge

Michael Dixon

After many years of using a 6" steel ruler for setting string action, I finally added one of these to my last order. I am glad I did, it is so much easier to use and for these aging eyes easier to see. The MusicNomad has inches, millimeters and 64ths measurements, plus if you need it a pickup height gauge. Someone mentioned this is very thinly made, I don't agree. It is a very read more well made and handy tool to have. Maybe some other one is thicker, but this is thick enough. I am very glad I purchased this.

The Most Readable String Action Gauge I've Found

Lenny Stearns

I own several different gauges to measure string action, and they all suffer from various shortcomings. The other gauges are either too reflective, don't have a choice of mm, decimal inches and 1/64's like this one does, and/or don't indicate if the measurement is from the top, middle or bottom of the indicator. This gauge has excellent contrast, has multiple ways to measure, and read more spells out where the measurement should be taken. My near vision is not what it was, so all of these features are appreciated. I'm also used to using the 1/64" scale to set my action, so having that featured on one side of the gauge is perfect for me.

I bought this because I got the Dunlop one just to see it one was easier to read.

They are both different. The Dunlop model is thicker and works fine. This model is a bit different. It's does have black with white and has 1/64" markings like the thousand's where the Dunlop you need to read the small scale which works and both are certainly better than the General tools 6 inch X 1/2 ruler I've been using for ever. I like the fact that they set on more than one read more fret so you a more accurate reading, not tilting like trying to be level on one fret. I should have bought these decades ago.

Easy to read but thin...

This is a lot more readable than the silver ones. The problem is the thickness. Sure if you are gentle with and take care of your stuff, fine. But for the $ this thing is super thin...

Awesome String Action Gauge

I own two string action gauges. And both of them work fine but why no one has though of this before I don't know. The other two that I have, it's impossible to actually read the measurements. This gauge is a God send. I can actually read the measurements due to the fact that measurements are printed in white on the black gauge. Brilliant!!!! Thank you Music Nomad for making read more a gauge that works and is highly readable. If you do your own setups like me, get a gauge. You won't be disappointed!
