I currently own 2 of these and im running them in stereo. THESE AMPS HAVE ADJUSTABLE VOICINGS, AND ITS A GODSEND. I have one set to British Bias, and The other to American Bias. AND WITH NO RETUBING COSTS! the variable wattage is perfect… read more for bedroom play (down to 1/1000 of full power. 100% recommend these for the bedroom, and the pro player. No tubes to replace, and sounds amazing!
After my Vox AC-15 had a tube go out right before a show and decided to look at this, as it doesn"t have conventional tubes to replace. I"m so glad I did! You can get about any sound you could want out of this and it sounds amazing. The tone is great and this amp can handle everything from jazz to metal. I"m getting rid of some pedals because this amp sounds so good on its own!… read more Thanks Ryan Holquist for helping me get the right gear!
Great Build Quality but Lacking Tone
I really wanted this amp to be great. It has two channels and a separate solo volume, both footswitchable. The tone for me just didn"t cut it. It definitely does not sound like a tube amp, but that didn"t matter to me. Just because it doesn"t have tubes does not mean it can"t sound good. I have a Roland Blues Cube amp and it sounds fantastic. I wish it had more gain and a foot… read more switchable solo boost, but it does not. That"s why I looked at this amp. I tried the amp in a band setting and it did not cut through the mix very well. The other guitarist was playing through a Fender Supersonic 22, and there was no comparison. The Vox sounds like a recording of an amp, and also has a digital vibe to the tone. One other thing, I wish Vox would flip the control panel knobs around. If you are standing in front of the amp and want to dial in your sound, the control panel is upside down. Fender amps have their control panel turned the other way, which I feel is correct, and a better way. Anyway, the amp didn"t cut it for me, so I returned it.
